| We're in Tignes too. Shall we do a snowheads meet up? |
That would've been good @My little friend - it's always good to meet fellow But, unfortunately, we'd already left Tignes (for a hotel night near Geneva Airport) just before your post Maybe another time eh?
Just back from a gorgeous Thai meal (at 'Chez Mamy' in Ferney Voltaire), which rounded off a fantastic week - three days final fling Magic Pass skiing at Glacier 3000 in Switzerland, followed by three days at Tignes/Val D. Another glorious day today and still some lovely snow conditions - down to La Daille first thing was particularly good. And Solaise was perfect (lovely spring snow) early afternoon Face mid morning was brilliant on the top half (lovely groomed snow) but an exhausting slushfest of bumps after that...

@My little friend, sorry too many jobs to do and other commitments this week. You might find some folk around at La Paillote in Lavachet on Monday evening.

The pistes are shrinking in width, not helped by rain below about 2,400m last night. Still some nice skiing to be had particularly on bits that have had little traffic. Skied down to La Daille late morning - very quiet. I don’t think it would have been a great deal of fun much later. Some of the slush is turning to slop in the afternoon. Makes for very wet trouser bottoms. Most folk seem to pack in at lunchtime.

Last day of the season today. Some of the pistes still in good condition, others just strips of white or beige across the mud and at times a bit boggy. Understandably very quiet, although the weather stayed on the more optimistic side of the forecasts and it has yet to start drizzling in the village. The marmots were so confident of the lack of interest from skiers and borders that they were playing on a number of the pistes.
We had to finish early to pack and do a thorough spring clean. Mrs SL hates the thought that someone might break into the apartment and form the opinion that we operate something less than the highest standards of housekeeping.
The long drive to Glasgow starts in the morning.

@GeorgeVII, Phil the Sparky was complaining his newly mown lawn was all white!
In other news, the demolition of the Hauts de Toviere Hotel in Lavachet is confirmed for this summer (no date yet). This of course means La Queue de Cochon will sadly pass into history along with tales of its forerunners - Harry’s Bar, Censored and Scottie’s and originally La Queue de Cochon!

Seems they have one lift open, maybe for a local race team or something? Another reminder that the higher altitude places could certainly trade for a few more weeks if they had the market. Cervinia is still looking nice and I'd say they could open most stuff above Plan Maison.

Wasn't there an attempt to use the name Harri's Bar at one stage?

Back in my time as a Tignes seasonnaire the links to VdI were open 'til 1st May (holiday in France) and Tignes' upper lifts (ie to the three 2100m villages) shut progressively up to 8th May (also a holiday) - but if the dates fell on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday then the openings were extended to the following Sunday, so Tignes could be running lifts covered by the season pass 'til 11th May.
Back in the last century Tignes was selling itself as a 365 day a year ski resort (presume 366 day in a leap year). Those were the days!
Anyone got a link to that article on the boom days of French summer skiing, when plenty of resorts tried to cash in?

@chocksaway, interesting if sad news about the impending demolition of the Hauts de Toviere hotel and related bar, in Lavachet.
Had some good trips based there in the 90s and, though fairly basic and a bit cramped, was good value.
Wonder if you know what will eventually be built in that space?

@PeakyB, Up market apartments I believe, it’s all part of a bigger project that will see buildings appearing on currently grassy areas. There are plans for a couple of hotels but the plans have changed numerous times as have the needs of clientele since the project was first mooted 10 years ago. Additionally, there will be some rethinking after the collapse of the Whitegold Hospitality house of cards.

We have booked an appartment in Lavachet for january 27 and was planning on using the Indigo Lavachet car park, is this car park part of the complex that is being demolished? or maybe i have my geography of the area incorrect. anyone have any idea if the car park will be effected by the demolition.

@MogulMonkey, No, as far as I have seen it will remain. In a few years time the road down the side of it may well be a nursery slope though.

Yes there was, but they got threatened with legal action so the "Harri's" sign was covered with another that said "censored".
On a related note, the Toviere was the very first place I stayed in Tignes many seasons ago.
Bit of a shame about Pigs Tail, hope they have something else lined up for 2027, lovely couple.

@chocksaway, thanks for the information. Let’s hope the wheels of change don’t turn too quickly on the grand masterplan. Slowly but surely Tignes Lavachet is following the upmarket move of Tignes 2100 in recent years.
