Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I have just hacked this together:Snow Obsession.

It's a rudimentary microsite which has - I think - all the cameras for Portes du Soleil, and a map. I make it 56 webcams. I've only done it for Portes du Soleil so far but I can, probably will, do others (I have the data).

Good effort.
There's at least one missing from your page, the Champoussin one from the previous link, direct link here. https://pds-ch.roundshot.com/champoussin/#/ Haven't checked them all, just noticed that one wasn't on your page.

There are xisting sites, like bergfex, that link to "all" webcams, but it's much more clicking through to one's chosen resort to navigate to the webcams, so I do like your idea.

Hello, I wasn't sure where to post this. I am looking for an old ski pass for Chatel / Portes du soleil as would like to create a montage in a frame of the places my son has been skiing to as a Christmas present.

We went to Chatel in 2017, 2018 and 2019 - though doesn't really matter what year the pass is from and could be more recent. If anyone has an old pass lurking in a drawer / pocket that they don't mind parting with then it would be much appreciated. I will of course cover costs.

Thank you for any help!

I'll have a few of them in a drawer somewhere. DM me your address.

I've been in Chatel many times during Rock the Pistes, I don't think it makes the slopes much busier in general. You do get a crowd around the individual concerts, but it's pretty localised.

Yes, it's worth knowing where the concerts are being held, even if just to avoid them. But generally there are hundreds of people just standing around getting in your way at certain points, the slopes and lifts are not really any busier than normal.

We had one good evening of village concerts last season here in Morgins, proper rock bands doing their own stuff, but 90% of the stuff on the pistes is al far too modern/pop for me. When looking at the set list for an afternoon the existence of a DJ is enough to tell me I do not want to be there. YMMV of course, I do have to accept that some people must actually like the stuff I hate.

Thanks, that's a shame if you can't enjoy them, I thought I read they might have DJ warmups before the act, luckily I like almost all music myself.

Looks like they've announced the acts for that week. I don't immediately recognise any off the top of my head. They are also selling tickets, but are the events "free" (with a normal lift pass) or do you need a special event ticket that they sell?

Black M, Sunday 16 March in Morzine
La Femme, Monday 17 March in Châtel
MC Eh oh! Solaar, Wednesday 19 March in Montriond - Les Lindarets, Avoriaz ski area
Royal Republic, Thursday 20 March in Montriond - Les Lindarets, Avoriaz ski area
Pierre-Hugues José, Friday 21 March in Morgins
Vald, Friday 21 March in Morgins
Howlin' Jaws, Saturday 22 March in Morgins
The Inspector Cluzo, Saturday 22 March in Morgins

Opening day Saturday in Avoriaz was glorious, sun and good snow snowHead . The limited terrain accessible (by lift) was tracked-out well before I got up there at 1pm. Prodains car-park was full by 9am apparently, no navettes running and no other access points open. However I didn't see any ticketing or towing going on this year, and everyone parked sensibly, if not legally.

That brings my total months-of-the-year enjoying lift-accessed skiing in Avoriaz to eight! Madeye-Smiley . I don't imagine that will be added to, unless some special May-time event crops up one day. There would have been a reset last night with another 15cm or so on the hill, so I expect they'll open again next weekend, but full opening not until the w/e after.

They're free. I think the special event tickets are basically just a combined travel and lift pass kinda thing.

Has anyone seen evidence of specific early opening plans for Morzine? My group will be in Avoriaz 13-20 Dec, but I was thinking it would be nice to use the PdS pass and actually make it over to Morzine. The site talks about partial preopening, but what does that mean I wonder? just magic carpets and lessons at the top of Pleney? The snow looks so good for the time of year.

The Avoriaz opening plans say that (in principle) the Super-Morzine gondola will be open on the other side of the Morzine valley, as well as Seraussaix.

Chatel are now saying "partial opening of the Linga / Pré la Joux areas and connection to Avoriaz" that week. The prior weekend (6-7 Dec) they will have opened "Pierre Longue, Rochassons, La Chaux des Rosées and Cornebois and Queysets" so one assumes that at least those plus either Linga or the Stade drag from the 13th.

afaik they are free, but they might sell special ski passes for those that happen at altitude. Is MC Solaar midday? Too bad it's on a Wednesday!

Nice weather yesterday (well not sunny like Saturday, but it didn't snow), no crowds, parking ok (or we got lucky, I saw a few cars going round in circles, it was late-ish at 10.15). Definitely more snow on 30/11/25 than on 30/11/24 according to my own account at the time, now crossing fingers.

Best possible answer would be, "sometimes yes, sometimes no". Very Happy

What is more certain now, as far as January is concerned, is that it's better that there's snow there now, than no snow there now.

I think it is/was from sources on the ground, certainly for early season. Whether it can hold through this warm, wet, spell is the question.

Thanks for help so far!

Accommodation (Morzine) I'm looking at says it's on bus line U and P. Looks like P no longer runs based on this year's map? https://www.calameo.com/read/0072505105e1bae94c783?page=1
Doesn't make a huge difference I suppose. It's a bit out of town (Nantegue stop) and last bus from Pleney is 19:30, would have to walk into/back from town if going out. There don't appear to be night busses, is that right?

Last time I was there, a year and a half ago, the latest buses were the A to Prodains, and they only run up until the 9pm last gondola, and even then not super reliably. I wish they would coordinate that better, I always felt at risk of getting stranded in Morzine if the bus didn't show. Your current timetable seems essentially the same.

Thought I'd post at least one pre-season video for the record books....wetter today so conditions already not what they were on mon - tuesday, and yeah getting milder for a while. But for those who wanted to see what 5-10cm fresh snow fallen on top of previously pisted and empty runs looks like, and a dog running in snow, and even a piste basher Very Happy ......started as usual at Chavannes 1500-1700m, then lower Chavannes run to village wasn't great with all the snow cannon piles...so went back up to Foillets du golf to do some of the run down from Pleney. I would say 30-40cm base at 1500m presently.

@AvoAndi, clicking on the poster's name enters this script straight into the message box, but without the extra spaces after the b's: [b ]@AvoAndi[/b ], which the site turns into a tag. Or you can type the same text in manually.

To tag multiple people, do it in the box at the bottom of a normal page, you can't do it in the box in the "Preview" page. Cool

@DJL, she learnt the hard way, I took her down an unpisted 30+cm Nauchet a year or two ago and she really struggled at the top until finding my track and then walked along it, knackered. This week was more instinct as the 5cm fluff on hard piste below was no problem....but yeah it's best to keep dogs ahead of you in general, as my previous bigger staffie got stuck behind me on a few occaissions and I had to stop halfway, put the skins on, hike back up and lift her out of a gully or something. Not good for anyone when you are busy trying to make a movie Very Happy

Let's see how much damage is done.....Sunday rain to the top, then staying mild a bit longer.....not much to talk about chart wise, but 15-20th next long shot opp.

Fingers crossed. There was a sprinkling here last night, just a couple of cms max, and maybe about the same expected this evening.

There's a slightly warmer spell forecast for Sunday and quite a bit of rain as well, so it may clear the snow at village level. Freezing level above 2000m, rising to 3500m by Tuesday, but dry.
