As requested a weather/trip report!
We were going to Lake Garda, but as we've been before a few times, and we've also done lakes Como, Maggiore and Orta, thought we'd try somewhere different!
Sprung for Lago di Piano, a small lake between Lake Lugano and Como, about a 4hr drive from Serre Chevalier with our caravan and 4 dogs!
Great site and well wooded for shade and privacy right on the shore of the lake.
Very warm and due to get hotter, 32 degrees by the weekend!
Pretty much the same for the other lakes.
Next week looking good with a couple of showers to clear the mugginess!
A lone windsurfer on Lake Lugano on the Italian tip of the lake, notice the colour of the sky, it should be blue, sunny, not a cloud visible, it's the smog fallout from Canada's bushfires........
The town of Porlezza 2 minutes from our campsite equidistant from Switzerland and Lake Como, better light this way as the sun was behind me:

Shame about the fallout. 32⁰ is going to be a bit warm for the dogs.

@adithorp, they seem fine, definitely no leaving them in the car and the caravan is shaded!

Had lunch in Lugano today, pleasantly surprised cost-wise, 85 chf for 2 pizzas, drinks, ice cream and coffees, was thinking it would be a lot more being Switzerland!
Lovely town/city, very clean, a bit like upmarket Italy

@KenX, we take a train down to Lugano to eat there when we get bored of winter grey in Zurich. I also think its better value than most other parts of CH. its like a clean & functional italy

@davidof, probably about 70 euros in Serre Che so didn’t reckon it to be so bad for CH

@KenX, we've certainly had bad pollution in the Rhone-Alpes the last days, our Dyson was going mad with it all

@davidof, Yes I drove down on Wednesday and was quite stunned.
As it was summer I opted for going Chambery, Maurienne, Galibier rather than Grenoble and the pollution haze was much better in the Maurienne and twas stunning going over the Galibier in the evening Sunshine.
And then cycled Galibier yesterday in beautiful conditions.
Temps were 32° in the afternoon and Ullr (Jacks are in the UK) certainly doesn't like that.
I'm back down to Lac Serre Poncon Saturday with all my toys, hence no room for the OH

It’s muggy at Lake Maggiore too. The lake view is disappointing as a result.
Going to lake Company next

Yeahhh.
Pretty annoying lately. Whatever happened to the old practice of not spell check words that are capitalized, never mind auto-correct.

We regularly pass Piano on the way to the Iperal just outside Porlezza from our house in Menaggio, to be honest I've had stopped there but should to have a walk around.
Is there a walk which goes all the way around?
Where are you camping on Como?
|
|
|
|
|
|
@homers double, we were camping at Camping Ranocchio on Piano itself, they're in the process of finishing a track all the way round, it doesn't follow the lake borders sadly but will be very nice when finished!
LynnX spoke highly of the Iperal
