 Poster: A snowHead

Hi all
Considering Cervinia or Livigno for week before Christmas - any thoughts ? Is there sufficient skiing for decent skiers for a week? Concerned about the snow ? Any other tips
Thanks

I was at Zermatt the week after Christmas this past season, and did some skiing on the Italian side. Plenty of snow and in mid-season form. I can't imagine this being a risk snow-wise. Plenty of terrain for a week, especially when considering the Swiss side. Haven't been to Livigno but by reputation that may not have enough for a week without repeating some terrain. It will also be used as a site for some Olympic events. Don't know that this would affect things before Christmas, but worth checking out.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I was in Cervinia w/c 12/12 last year - wonderful conditions, lots of snow, blue skies, uncrowded pistes.

At 1800m+, I’d have thought Livigno should be fine, snow-wise. The town/resort has skiing on either side which does mean transiting through the town if one wishes to ski both areas in the same day (not overly complicated with buses providing regular connections).
Skiing-wise, there’s plenty for a week, although it didn’t strike me as overly difficult - some awesome and reasonably long reds.
Personally, and in spite of the long transfer, I thoroughly enjoyed the town/Apres vibe. Plenty going on to suit most tastes. Not overly expensive and, because of its “duty-free” status, drinks were relatively cheap, as I recall (though this was a good 14-15 years ago!).
