Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

24/25 season analysis for Andorra

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Seems like the data analysts in Andorra haven’t wasted any time to analyse the season (season finished on Sunday). Anyway some interesting info if you like this sort of thing! - in Spanish but it’s mostly self explanatory. An article about it is here https://www.lugaresdenieve.com/?q=es%2Fnoticia%2Fgrandvalira-resorts-cierra-una-temporada-de-record-con-2-millones-de-dias-de-esqui-vendidos

Whole of Andorra

Grandvalira

Pal Arinsal

Arcalis

Not sure how much it compares to anywhere else. The last couple of seasons, early season has been saved by man made as most natural snow fell Feb/Mar.

I did a quick sanity check, how boring/sad and it sounds a lot of water......but Rutland Water one of the UKs largest reservoirs is over 124m cu m so 100+ times that usage.

Even more boring - the amount of 40 odd olympic sized swimming pools.

A lot but a big area to cover.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Pal Arinsal most crowded in Feb, not post-Christmas?!

I don’t even think it was half term that week. Certainly, it wasn’t in Andorra and I don’t think it was in the U.K. either.

@countryman, we’ve had a lot of snow and rain since they stopped using the cannons (end of Feb). I’m pretty sure they’ve already said that the reservoirs are full ready for next season. Probably more interesting would be the amount of electricity used either for lifts of snow cannons - although both Grandvalira and Pal Arinsal have reasonable sized solar farms next to them.

Looks like the season's been pretty heavy on the artificial snow. It seems like it's been helping a lot early on, especially when the natural snow's only really come in later in the season.

Not sure where they base that measurement on but the highest lift in Arinsal is a couple of hundred metres higher than Pal. I’d be surprised if 200m made that much difference though.
