Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Olympic - End of an era.

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Ski Olympic have just announced they are ‘retiring’ at the end of the season.

https://m.facebook.com/skiolympic/

Quite a poignant day for me as had more holidays with them than any other TO. Through them I was introduced to Tignes (that turned out to be expensive!). I have also made some lifelong friends so thanks to Bernie, Maggie, Jarrod and Gavin and all the staff for some great times. I am pleased they have bowed out on their terms and unlike many companies nobody has been disadvantaged. There are many stories - many of which are unrepeatable…..

That’s really too bad. Always seemed a really nice bunch when I spoke to them at the ski show, never went with them but would have been happy to have.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I had many ski trips with them, solo, with friends and with my family. Always a good experience, from the 1990s through to just 2 years ago. Also found the staff to be friendly, motivated and good at their work.

My first trip was to the Rosset, Tignes and the last one to La Foret, Vallandry. Courchevel and La Plagne featured in between, so some great areas enjoyed.

Thanks for the memories, will miss you and good luck all for the future.

Ah, really sad news. Had several great holidays with them to La Ros, Tignes and Meribel, made some great friends - both guests and staff.

Best of luck to everyone involved.

Another one gone. Had some enjoyable trips with them in my early days; I'm glad they can leave on their own terms.

Yes, find farewell from me too. We had several excellent chalet holidays in La Ros.

What a shame. But that is how you do it. No going bust. No leaving people in the lurch. Just integrity. And heart. Well done all.

Our first ever ski holiday (2 weeks!) was with them above Rocky's bar in Courchevel 1650. Many more followed. I remember one time, when the coach routes didn't work well, Bernie came over on his own to pick us up. Many happy memories.

Ski Olympic has a special place in my heart , in 2000 my then girlfriend (now my wife for 20 odd yrs) went with them to La Rosiere and stayed at Roc Noir . It stands out for me because on that trip I wanted to learn how to ski off piste , so via a friend in Meribel I hired what I thought was an independent teacher for each morning , what I inadvertently did was hire a high mountain guide . After the first morning we decided that I was good enough and he merged my booking with some other groups trying to use him at the time . By the end of the week not only had I skied some great OP routes in La Rosiere , I’d been Heli Skiing in La Thuile and had skied the North Face of Foglietta Sainte Foy a truly outstanding week . Since then we have owned an apartment in Sainte Foy for over 20 years and this year I celebrated skiing yearly with that ski guide for the last twenty five years .
All due to my ski Olympic trip to La Rosiere .

Stopped with Ski Olympic many times so sad to see them go. Stopped in La Foret last season and whilst it was OK didn't feel the food matched what they used to serve. Maybe they lost there way over the last few years?

Did my season with SO at La Foret in 2006/07. Gutted to hear this. Wonderful company to holiday with and to work for.
