The transceiver easter-egg hunt was a popular event on the Family Bash.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yes, that's a brilliant entertainment idea - an extension on the "simply digging around with a shovel" which is always a winner.

Skiing with young kids (we had 4, the youngest was 29 last month) is a wonderful thing and a privilege. We made memories which will last a lifetime. They're all off making their own skiing memories these days and occasionally one says 'thanks' which is not necessary, but kind of nice.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I took 20 kids on a trip to build 'igloos'. We had about half the group who were fully focussed on building an igloo and worked together really well. The other half of the group spent most of the time just shovelling snow from one place to another without any real purpose! They all loved it - and these are kids who live in the mountains and are in the snow a few times a week.

Whats to entertain?
You’re stopping to have lunch/coffee/hot chocolate, you do that then head off skiing again.

Totally agree with Ster, but if you're looking for something extra to keep them busy during those breaks, a quick scavenger hunt for snow creatures or even making snow forts can do the trick!

@ster, for me this is a good spring skiing late afternoon finish on the terrace with a beer and a way to keep the kids amused.

Not if you are stopping for coffee and then a big end of season lunch you don't!
If you live in the mountains and get to ski as much as you want, life is not all about skiing as many kms as possible.

@Legend., you’re lucky then aren't you, more so than most who only ski a week a year.

@ster, I don’t. But the OP does and that is what he is doing (as he says in his post!)

And also, it's not a bit unusual that people quite like to entertain their kids (or other people's kids) who might not want to bash around the mountains all day, or who get bored when adults are eating and chatting, and looking for buried transceivers is terrific entertainment (not to mention quite useful). Quite often we get people asking about "things to do" for kids, and I reckon this one is a useful idea.

Agreed. Part of the fun a family can have. Or in this case someone else's kids, but it's all the same!
Personally, I think the trips are about having a great time in the snow, and my kids absolutely feel the same. Skiing is a massive part of that but it is not the be all and end all.
