Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Menuires/Val Thorens

I'm heading off on Thursday to Les Menuires, staying in Les Bruyeres, with a first day of skiing on Saturday. I'm wondering if the pistes are likely to hold up until Thursday next week? I see warm weather forecast for the rest of this week with rain in the forecast for next week. Hopefully there will plenty of options for 6 days of skiing? First visit to Les Menuires.

Who knows.....the pistes were lovely spring conditions today on that side of the 3 Valleys but the snowline is getting higher each day and it's getting warmer. It's slush at the lower lifts - we went as low as Bruyeres today while getting back to VT. the piste is kept going, but only just to get you to the lift.

The lower slopes that are out of action are shown on the 3 Valleys app - it is brilliant, kept up to date frequently.

Thanks @Dan. We expect to pretty much go up the Bruyeres cable car and ski over to Val Thorens, so hopefully the conditions hold up there. We can always get the cable car back to Bruyeres and stroll back to the accommodation if it gets too bad below. I'll check out the app.

Np @NC265 snowHead

I've never been over to the Les Menuires side before, I was really impressed with the lifts and number of runs. The VT side feels a lot more spread out. Depending on who you are with, definitely get over to the mount vallon runs, they should hold up well as not so much in the sun.

We're a family of snowboarders, so the soft spring conditions are quite nice......the hard corduroy pistes are not so much Eh oh!

@Dan, that's great thank you. Two kids on their 3rd ski trip, so quite confident. I'll head over that way. I expect to be doing some travelling to find the snow, but higher up I'm hoping Les Menuires should still have some skiing.

I can’t add a photo but I just looked at the webcam at the top of ROC2 and it looks like there’s still skiing to be had! There was certainly enough last week when I was there even if it’s not the best late season in memory
Is that around the Chez Pepe Nicolas area@Bergmeister, As I know it is often one of the first areas to go as it gets so much sun.

@abricotine,
Yes - just below Chez Pepe Nicolas. My photo was intended as a teaser. Here are a few more from the past 2 days Very Happy .

We head home on 13th April but will be back in Val T on 23rd April and have no worries about the snow on our return. Our last ski day will be 2nd
May Very Happy

The skiing down to Mottaret today was surprisingly good, with lovely slush moguls - which were great fun Very Happy .

Like a friend of mine! When I said "Have you seen they've removed the word 'gullible' from the dictionary?' she responded "Really!?".... wink

Thanks all. Looks like some good skiing still to be had. We take it quite easy with the kids, so just want some acceptable piste skiing. At least VT seems easy access from LM.

 And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I’d suggest staying away from Val Thorens at the moment. This week (5-12 April) in VT was crazy busy. It felt like the New Years week.

By contrast, Les Menuires, Meribel and Courcheval were very quiet - mostly private cabins in gondolas.

And there is still excellent skiing en piste in the morning:

Les Menuires - Masse, 4 vents (when groomed), Grand Lac all skiing well
Saint Martin - Pramint
Courcheval - Saulire, Suisses (when groomed), M (when groomed)
Meribel - Combe du Vallon, Mauduit

And in the afternoon its about finding the spring corn off-piste!!

Didn't think VT was crazy busy at all this week. Short lift queues, if any.

@Dan,

I agree. We've been in VT all week and thought it felt relatively quiet Very Happy .

Our last ski day today. We've been spoiled all week with glorious weather but it's overcast today, with flat light rolling eyes .
