 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

As far as we aware, the Alpine slope at Southampton is staying open (our club runs race training sessions there) under a company called Places Leisure. Active Nation have never felt like a ‘charity’. Locally, there have been complaints for a long time about how the facilities that they manage in Southampton have been run into the ground

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Both Aldershot and Southampton slopes' websites were down today, and neither were answering their phones. We have had several enquiries today at the slope in Guildford from people who have had their bookings at Aldershot cancelled and refunded.

Aldershot and Southampton are both great clubs. This is a real shame.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Southampton is still open, I work there, and is now run by Places Leisure. Not sure why the phones are unanswered I will find out later today. Places Leisure were the lead contractor for Southampton facilities and are under obligation to take over.
Aldershot was run under a different contractual arrangement and I have no knowledge of what happens next. My understanding is that the contract was directly between Active Nation and the local council and the council are seeking a way forward.

Is this likely to disrupt the new lodge and resurfacing works?

@Dav, As far as I know the refurbishment will go ahead and is due to start in the near future. It is unclear who will run the slope when it's finished.
The phones not being answered at Southampton was a temporary glitch and is now resolved.

From a quick look at Active Nation's accounts at Companies House:
at 31/03/23 liabilities exceeded assets by £3.9m, which was £1.0m worse than a year earlier. (2024 accounts due by last week).
Looks as though they have only been surviving through bank loans and perhaps advance fees/memberships, so perhaps not surprising if they have ceased trading.
If facilities are owned by local councils (so Active Nation were just the operator) it will be up to them whether to keep things going.
