Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Mmm, heading that way on Friday 11th rolling eyes
Last year, it was a burning lorry on the A1 that stopped me for 2.5 hrs.

Indeed - here's the on-going info page to cutout & keep: https://nationalhighways.co.uk/travel-updates/operation-brock/

But did a double-take on "Brock", as it turns out that the replacement for Operation "Stack" is yet another Brexit Benefit !
Quote:
Operation Brock is the traffic management system in Kent, England, used to supplement Operation Stack during cross-Channel traffic problems. It was originally developed for use in the event of a no-deal Brexit.

And my ignorance of this, in turn, an upside of not using any sub/surface Channel crossing in the half-decade since Covid rolling eyes

It was funny when Bojo was interviewed about Operation Brock and he claimed that it had nothing at all to do with Brexit. It was then pointed out that Brock stands for BREXIT OPERATIONS ACROSS KENT.

On another note, I had to do Brock 3 times in 2 hours, two summers ago (something to do with a bag that I had no idea even existed not being packed in the roof box. Of course it was my fault). On the third run it would appear that I got a speeding ticket as I was sick of driving at 50mph on an empty motorway. The day before my speed awareness course I was informed that it was all cancelled as it would appear that the cameras were not calibrated properly. Thousands were cancelled apparently.

Maybe Kent Police won't make the same mistake this time....

@The_Gate, I've never heard that Brock stands for Brexit Operations Across Kent and had always thought it was the new "brand" name for Stack.

In this corner of the county we've always had hold ups due to port problems, whether this be industrial action, border controls or industrial action.

Over the years we've had some humdingers down here, when when Dover and Folkestone end up totally gridlocked, along with all the local villages as satnavs divert traffic to smaller and smaller roads. The summer of 2015, December 2020 when France closed it's borders to the UK, the P&O sacking of staff, July getaway in 2022 (I think), plus numerous other short term issues.

We’re at the tunnel now having just driven past it. 50mph limit for about 8 miles - was all flowing ok though

Drove through on April 2nd - commented how nice it was without Brock even though all the cones were on the hard shoulder. I wonder if it is really needed these days?
