 Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi All,
Will be lodging tonight in Kufstein with the possibilities to reach Saalbach Hinterglemm, Kitzbühel, SkiWelt, or Wildschönau.
I want to go off the piste a little and enjoy the fresh snow.
I’ve been to SkiWelt and Kitzbühel already for reference.
Given the predicted weather today and tame off piste wishes, what would you guys reccomend?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Tubby1147, There looks as if there has been some fresh snow at Pass Thurn (part of Kitzbühel) https://wepowder.com/en/villages/pass-thurn#resterhohe I doubt anything lower will be worthwhile. Also Kitzsteinhorn glacier but that's a fair drive from Kufstein probably just as quick to get to Hintertux.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get out there!!
I tried but situation was sticky.
I’m going from Frankfurt tomorrow and unfortunately eastern Austria is a lot harder for me to reach by train.
I looked at the webcams today for Zauchensee…I’m jealous as it looks awesome

@Tubby1147, If you are using the train then oddly you might find that St Anton is the best option. There is some fresh snow (not as much as further east), the train station is in the middle of the village about a five minute walk from the main lift and ski hire shops. Direct trains from Kufstein (unlike most other places, even if you went to Kitzbühel you might have to get a bus to get up to Pass Thurn depending on what lifts are open) and a ticket costs €16 each way on nice comfortable Austrian express trains. About a 1.75 hour trip. Getting back to Frankfurt should be relatively straight foward, leave on the 17:00 train towards Zürich and connections from either Zürich or maybe head to Lindau and onwards from there.
