Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Last minute weekend - Sestriere or Serre Chevalier

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello. We have flights booked tonight to Geneva and because of the large volume of available accommodation and wildly changing forecasts we have been holding off on deciding where to ski. We have 3 whole days, and a max 3.5hr drive.

Would normally choose the obvious, VT, Tignes, Cervinia or Les2 for the altitude, but all forecasts seem to have settled on a very cloudy/foggy day tomorrow, and pretty blustery up high when the sun hopefully comes out on Sun and Mon.

We're piste skiers only.

Is anyone presently in Sestriere/Sansicario or Serre Chevalier, who can report on the conditions in the trees above 1800, and whether it's holding up well enough (for Spring) up top in the sun?

Ultra last minute, so I probably won't get much of a response before needing to roll the dice, but thought it worth asking.

Thanks
CB

Sestriere looks to be holding up well after the big dump they had there the other week; loads of snow forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday (30-40cm) next week if that swings things, and looking to be light winds so links to sauze/sansicario should be unaffected.
