Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Help!
Flying to Lyon on Saturday 22 with my son for ten days, mainly to go rock climbing. However we are also taking skis etc in the hope that we can get 3 days skiing in if conditions warrant.
What I'm desperately trying to work out is whether to ski Sunday onwards or wait till next weekend. (We've not booked accommodation yet)
Plan was either to stay in Malaucene or near Buoux for a few days then drive to perhaps Champagny ( for La plagne) or Tignes or Alpe d Huez or somewhere
Both done loads of skiing and really looking for fresh snow off piste. Not really that bothered about on piste.
The forecast says snow in tignes next couple of days, but also high winds. Current forecast for next weekend is for some snow again, but this far out who knows.
So, does anyone reckon there's fresh to be had in the French Alps?
Or is it all a bit meh...
This weekend or next?
Any resort recommendations?
Many thanks

@TheGeneralist
, As I said on the Tignes thread, this weekend will not produce the level of snow you are after to justify the expense. Next weekend might, but its not close to 100% sure, so think about it but have a Plan B.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Many thanks chocksaway.
I forgot I had posted on the tignes thread till I saw your reply on it!
Love the definitive statement, just what I'm looking for. Especially as I am climbing tomorrow hopefully.
Weirdly bergfex forecast ton of snow in tignes just now but the cliff bases and roofs on the webcam look very dark . Fits in exactly with what you are saying...

@TheGeneralist
, being a climber etc do you ski-tour as conditions are pretty damn good, subject to weather etc, but will definitely get more bang for your buck
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
