Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Châtel or Les Gets for mid-March?

Simple as. For those who have skied both, what is your preference and why? I'm more familiar with Les Gets and Châtel feels more spread out and a bit more tricky to select the perfect chalet location perhaps? What about restaurant prices etc, pretty similar? Thanks!

Chatel provides faster access to Avoriaz if that is a consideration. Super Châtel sector will still be open and is linked to Linga and PLJ sectors. You could look staying near Lac Vonnes where there is are good selection of chatels and the village has good selection of high-end apartments in the Boude area.

@charliebobgordon,
Horrible question to ask as I love them both but for different reasons. Chatel quicker access to Avoriaz and the whole Swiss circuit but horrible bus ride to PLJ and Linga if you get your chalet location wrong. Les Gets quicker initial access to the slopes but involves a Petit Train trip across Morzine to access Avoriaz and beyond. Both have good bars and restaurants, you're up a mountain on a ski holiday in France nothing is going to be cheap although my impression is that both are cheaper than Tignes/Val d'Isere.

When we stayed in Chatel it always seems to take a lot of effort to get to the first lift.

These days we favour Les Gets with just the occasional week in Chatel.

I agree @Timc, Châtel is vast area and having the wrong location can make it difficult if you don’t have a car. The busses from the village centre run regularly to the starting areas of Vonnes (5 mins), Linga (7 mins) and PLJ (15 mins). There are smaller shuttles that connect the village residents to the main centre for the ski busses. Our location is in the centre and often get the bus to PLJ and return skiing back to Super Châtel via Linga. We seldom drive to start skiing. @charliebobgordon, feel free to DM and properties you are considering and I’ll advise on ease of location.
