Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just had the email reminder that my annual insurance policy is due in 10 days.
It's my 60th birthday tomorrow
When I rang up, the agent told me to buy the policy from today, while I'm still 59 for £101, if I bought it from renewal, when I would be 60, it would be £142!

Yeah, my annual policy went up now I'm 60, but partly because the basic policy has an age limit, so I'm now on the next level up. Main benefit is 21 instead of 10 days skiing!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@mountainaddict,

I took their bronze policy for a one parent family to cover myself and my 17 yr old daughter, it covers offpiste and 21 days skiing

In the past, I asked the agent about the number of ski days, ie if I had already been skiing 21 days over 2 trips without claims, then had a claim on a 3rd trip, how would they know about previous trips and would they check? His answer was that they don't check.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Cheers @tangowaggon. I was asking as:
- Like you, Mrs MA and I are over a certain age wink
- We're just up to our max no. of ski days (15) with our annual Aegeas policy.

Was thinking I'll need to contact them as we have more trips coming up. Having had a £10k claim paid out when Mrs MA broke her leg in Japan in 2023, I'm rather keen to ensure we remain covered! wink

Maybe worth checking Nationwide flexplus. Just studied policy since new underwritter, and looks like 31days even for winter sports.

They at £18 a month, and that gives are breakdown cover. On a joint account that's 2 cars breakdown, family annual travel insurance covering all 4 of us for that, is pretty decent.

I literally only leave an almost £200 balance then transfer the monthly fee from my main current account.

@NickyJ, the policy wording with the new underwriter only permits skiing "on piste, or off piste with a qualified guide". We have a Nationwide Flexplus account but my husband and kids like to ski between pistes etc so we decided we had to purchase separate travel insurance for our ski trip this year - very annoying. Good deal if you stick to pistes or off piste with qualified guides though.

If you want cover for off-piste in a package account, check out the insurance included with the Virgin Money Club M account. Cost for package is £12.50 per month, so cheaper than Nationwide Flexplus. It covers off-piste "except in areas the resort says are "unsafe"". Though only 17 days skiing.

Valid up to the age of 75. Their definition of pre-existing medical conditions seems relatively narrow.
