Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Easter weekend - stopover ideas

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Heading to L2A for the week before easter, got two nights to kill on the way back over easter holiday weekend so wondering what people can recommend?

Did Riems last year at Easter weekend but didn't factor in A) it was raining, so pretty drab, and B) most stuff was closed because of the BH weekend. Managed to pass the time in champagne caves, hard life and all that....

Not booked anything yet, just looking to put a pin in a map and hot-foot it from the Alps across France so we're close(ish) to the tunnel for Monday afternoon. Can imagine much of France is closed so outdoorsy stuff or maybe a trip to Luxembourg or Belgium if they have a bit more going on.

@Specialman, we often stop off for a couple of nights over Easter weekend, and there is usually some stuff going on everywhere . We were back home last Easter though I think so missed a wet weekend. We've stopped in Chalons, Dijon and also Beaune, which has the Marché au Vins and Hospice de Beaune as well as big weekend markets. You can also hire bikes and ride through the vineyards. It will be a bit early for much activity, but views are nice. If shopping is your thing, the designer outlets outside Troyes are open 7/7.
Tourist Office websites are a good starting place for what's on and when things are open and for booking tickets for attractions.

There are lots of ww1/2 sites we have visited over the last couple of years that are worth a visit, not sure of opening times over Easter but the big memorials will be for certain and some very close to the motorway, also there is the old race track near Reims which we did last year, now part of the road but the stands etc are still there

As @Hells Bells, has suggested, we like to stop over in Beaune. It’s just a lovely place. It’s not particularly far from L2A so it would be a gentle first day drive for an afternoon/evening there.

We’ve stopped in Luxembourg too, but that was on the way back from Austria. That’s quite a detour from L2A.

For Belgium, Bruges or Ypres are both very good. Usually with accommodation available centrally, making relaxed walk out during the stay to see around. Good food, interesting architecture etc.

Much further north in journey from L2A but obviously a significantly shorter hop to transit afterward.

@robs1,

We've also visited there, and quite a place of interest (a great look at days gone by) for any that like motor racing and it's historic place. Pretty quiet if there's not that element in visiting persons.
