@stanton, Wonder how many of these resorts are owned by Vail (Epic) or Ikon and if they are sweating their assets to breaking point, or cutting back on local maintenance crews in order to benefit from economies of scale.

They can't really be blamed for a chair hitting a pillar due to excessive swinging if that was caused by the passenger,
Having said that, they do appear to have a number of maintenance issues over there. Absolutely zero excuse for locking mechanisms on removable chairs to be worn and ineffective.
Many of their lifts are quite old and rickety, which suggests a distinct lack of investment over the last 20 years.
Complacency by management who have got into the mindset that the business will still come, regardless of lift quality?
How do their lift pass prices compare to Europe?
Prices in the Sella Ronda haven't increased much above inflation in the last few years, and the amount of money they have spent on new lifts and snow making is incredible.

I recently saw footage of the Kickinghorse gondola on the ground. It had not become detached, the bar from the gondola up to the rope had fractured. The top part of the bar was still attached to the rope.
