Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Getting from Tignes Les Brévières to Le Lac

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello all. Booked some private lessons with TDC for April 3 hours for 3 days. Meeting point is the main tourist office in Le Lac. I'll drop them a note as we're staying in Les Brévières. Anyone know how long it would take to get there if we need to get the bus? Looking at the Times table to first bus is 0800 to Tignes 1800. What I'm not clear on if you need to get off that bus then it's another one to Val Claret?

Will all be unnecessary if the instructor can get down to Les Brevier for 9am but will plan just in case.

The website suggests you would get one bus to Tignes 1800 then another to Tignes Le Lac.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's how I interpreted it. 15 mins to get to 1800 then they run every 15 mins so probably a case if waiting for the 0830 bus from 1800. If we set off at 0800 we should have plenty of time.

Any idea how far the bus drops in Val Claret in terms of a walk to the tourist info office?

Your initial post said you needed to meet the instructor in Le Lac.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I've conflated the two. 'your instructor will meet you on the snow-front right outside the tourist office ("Maison de Tignes"), in Tignes le Lac for the start of each session'

@Grizwald, You get off the bus from Brev at the main bus station in Tignes Le Lac, which is at the back of/underneath the Maison de Tignes. Just walk up the metal staircase either side, or go through the Maison de Tignes and up the internal stairs and you'll be at the right place.

But...are you starting from Brevieres or Boisses/1800? I don't think the bus goes down to Brev (unless its new this season?). AIUI the bus starts from Boisses/1800. If you're staying in Brev you'll need to get the lift/gondola up from Brev to Boisses, and then probably up the double poly tunnel magic carpets to the top of Boisses1800, and then walk through to near the ski hire shop to the bus stop where the bus starts from.

The bus station in Tignes Le Lac (Tignes 2100) is just at the back of the Maison de Tignes. You go inside, up a couple of floors, stairs or lift, then out the other side onto the Front de Neige.

5 minutes max from bus station to Front de Neige.

@rjs, Ahh, yes, I sit corrected. Only two busses up in the morning though 08:00 and 08:30, and after that you do have to use the gondola, magic carpets and Bosses/1800 Navette.

Thanks for all the replies. TDC responded and said they'd let me know closer to the time based on the instructors time table if they could get down to Les Brévières or not.

I've been to Tinges a few times but I don't think I ever got any lower than Tignes 1800 but wasn't really there for the pistes on those ocassions.

Maybe a compromise is to meet at 1800 as we'll possibly spend a good chunk of time on lifts just getting out of Les Brévières with the instructor?

If you look at this map of Tignes le lac tourism office, it looks like the bus station at Tignes 1800 is right next to it. It has been a while since I caught the free bus from Tignes les Boisses to Tignes le lac, but I do not remember there being any need to get another bus for Tignes le lac. I think the bus station has moved closer to the tourism information office since I was last there.

So you do not need another bus, you just need to walk to the other side of the tourism office.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

From Les Brévières, you’ll need to take the bus up to Tignes 1800, then switch to another one to get to Le Lac. The total trip usually takes around 30-40 minutes, depending on connections. If the instructor can meet you in Les Brévières, that would definitely be easier, but if not, I’d aim for the first bus at 08:00 to be safe.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Is there always enough snow in les Breviers in April (up to 25th)? Getting the bus seems likely the best option as it is unlikely that the road will be icy, snowed in and impassable in April.

 You know it makes sense.

Thanks for the responses. Les Brévières wouldn't have been my first choice for April, its proabbly a less convenient for accessing the full area efficiently at anytime of year. Hoping they'll keep the home run open but choices to down load if needed.

The deal was a bit of a steal, a week all inclusive (not that bothered about AI but worst case AI beer will be nice) inc pass with Sunweb for £550. Nearly spent that again in lessons Very Happy
