 Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi, just arriving eith my partner in Engelberg for the first time for a long weekend. Unfortunately our skis and boots have not come with us. Any tips on best place for rental gear with an all mountain/off piste focus? Elan/Salomon stockists would be a bonus. Many thanks.

 Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Titlis Sport, with a shop in the village and one in the base of the Titlis lift station, are the largest and always had a decent selection of mid and fat skis when I lived there. It's been 7 years since I left, so things may have changed.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@schauspiele, the samosas and baileys chai at the bottom of Titlis are very good on a cold day!

Thank you, we may check these out later on today!
For others searching for ski hire in Engelberg, we thought Intersport did a good job. We went straight to the lift station which meant the selection was limited but with what they had they did a good job of offering us different options and the people were really nice.

You’ll find plenty of rental shops around, but Prime Mountain Sports and Bründl Sports are good options, especially for off-piste gear. They usually have a solid selection, and you might find Elan or Salomon there.

Err, Prime is a ski school, not a shop. (I used to work there, as it happens). And I've never heard of a Bründl Sports there (web tells me it's a chain in Austria).
I recommended Titlis (Intersport) just because they're the biggest and most conveniently placed, given the emergency nature of the request, and always had a good selection of kit.
There was in fact a much more specialist freeride shop there, https://www.okay-shop.com/ who I've used both for rentals, specifically of telemark kit for learners, and for purchases. Seems to have relocated and merged with another shop now, so I was hesitant to mention it as a possible wild goose chase for the OP.

The only thing I remember about Engelberg ski hire was an eye-watering price....
