 Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi, My 3 year old is due to go into Petit Club Med in a couple of weeks time - filling out the advance paperwork they seem to have added the requirement for a "Certificate of No Contraindication to Community Life" to the requirements we must bring alongside the vaccination record ...... from a brief whatsapp chat they say this is standard for childcare in France.
From google it seems to be a certificate to say he is fit and healthy - but there is very limited info I can find with format or what it specifically has to cover.
I have reached out to my GP, they are looking into it but its not something they normally provide.
Has anyone had this and managed to get one?..

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I did - this was their helpful response:
Hello, this is XXXX from ClubMed's Customer Service UK.
Mandatory documents for Resorts in France is: Medical certificate of no contraindication to community life as well as the health record.

France requires medical certificates for lots of things, if you want to do any organized physical activity as an adult then you need one.
I have always got a certificate from a medical centre in France instead of asking my UK GP, felt they would have a better idea of what was needed, cheaper too.
The certificate just consists of a one line statement that I am healthy enough to do the activity. All the details were in the discussion with the doctor.

@Imalittlelost, your Red Book (or virtual equivalent) with proof of vaccinations, that's what they need

You'll need to Register first of course.

Sounds like an AI bot response. Have you spoken to a human? I’m sure they must be familiar with the equivalent (eg red book, suggested above).
It can’t be the case that you need to visit a French doctor before you put your child in club med childcare.

My GP reception will always print out vaccinations administered (assuming you had them all done on the nhs).

When our daughter went into creche (many moons ago in Les Deux Alpes) all they wanted to see was as suggested above, your nhs red book showing up to sate vaccinations etc.

I spoke to Club Med UK customer services this afternoon, and they just regurgitated the same wording, but after pressing is looking into it as they didn't know what it was (lets see if I get a call back)...
The exact wording in their policy is as follows, so its the red book and a medical certificate (which is frankly ridiculous):
Upon you arrival, to complete your registration at the Petit Club you will need to provide:
-Your Child Health Record with updated vaccination certificates
-A medical certificate stating no contraindication to community life established within the 2 months prior to your arrival in Resort.

That sounds to me like the old Covid tests you had to upload on Tout Anti Covid - sounds like they haven’t updated emails and info
It’s been a while but red book was all we ever needed for crèche and nursery we used

Searching on it suggests very much not, there are loads of places, incl. creches where said certificate is required. But not, helpfully, an actual definition
It may well be new.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Having heard back from Club Med - they have confirmed I need to provide a certificate from my GP that my 3 year old is fit and healthy enough to participate in the learn to ski course he is enrolled in, in addition to the red book as part of the childcare package.
Seems massively over the top, but they are adamant.

I completely agree, but them's the rules. You have my sympathy.
And, as per another post, it's increasingly common. I have been asked to provide similar for participation (as an adult) is two cycling events in France and Italy. Quite a PITA to acquire as my GP would insist on writing his own comment over the top of the standard form, this rendering the form inadmissible. So I needed to get another form and find another GP who wouldn't do that.
My advice would be to check whether the provider has a standard form, and if so insist that your GP use that (and only that).
A PITA but worth it overall if it means you and your child enjoy the holiday.

I get it for something like the Etape.... given the strenuous nature of that type of event....
