Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Afternoon all, not strictly skiing but could use any handy info anyone may have.

A friend and I have decided to fly over to watch Le Tour in the Alps in July, all very last minute, flights to Lyon & car through sleazyjet are no problem but accomodation in the Bourg D'Oisans area is looking tricky (20/21/22nd July). I've e-mailed all the obvious hotels via the local websites but have so far drawn a blank. I'm sure there must be apartments or hotel rooms available in some of the smaller resorts around Alpe D'Huez but finding them is the issue. Any bright ideas or will we be sleeping in the hire car?

Ironically I have also arranged to view a site for an apartment in Oz while we are there, sadly not built yet or we could squat!

You could consider camping. I bet you'd find either campsites or a farmer hoping to make an extra euro or two.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Have you contacted the tourist office in Alp d'Huez? They can probably find you somewhere.

Cheers - that's the fall back position, but having seen the campsites in the area at Tour time - absolutely rammed with orange painted Dutch maniacs & large Germans in large motorhomes it would have to be last option (although with a few beers would be great fun - 3 nights might be too much - perhaps I'm getting old!).

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Check out the tourist office website at http://www.bourgdoisans.com/otbo/index_fr.htm

Under 'hébergements' (the English version doesn't seem to work) you've got all the contact numbers for b&bs, gîtes, hôtels etc.... If you've already tried the b&bs, email the tourist office and ask for their suggestions. They will have a list of last minute availability....
