Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Possibly buying skis while in Austria in March, has anyone had any experience of one way ski carriage with the above?

IMO. Your best bet is to contact Crystal and ask them.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Who are you flying with? Crystal use TUI, BA or Easyjet. They all have their own cost.

BA you can take a single hold bag up to 190cm and 23kg at no extra cost.

By coincidence I booked a ski trip yesterday wuth Crystal, they offered all 3 airlines from Gatwick at various times, I choose the BA one as it meant free ski transport for me.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

TUI charge a flat fee of £60 when booking a hol. It's worth giving them a call to see if they will do a one way. I got my skis delivered to my hotel when I bought them (one of those UK sites but based in France so it was a no brainer to have them delivered in France). It was a BA flight and I just paid carriage one way.

A friend once bought skis in resort, used them for a week the asked the shop to wrap them up and send by carrier back to UK... We bought a large item in Germany in December and they sent it to our home in Halifax, (very heavy item !) and charged us £45 including packing and insurance....if you're buying from a place in resort make it part of the deal !!!

The TUI/Thomsons flight extras page shows that it is possible to book skis to and from, I suppose to charge those taking their own skis. I was just wondering if anyone had experience of booking skis on the home journey only.

Ill check in resort with the Rep.

Thanks everyone

You’ll be best off giving Tui a call before you fly. The rep won’t be able to do anything other than direct you towards Tui’s transport office (reps deal with things in resort, flight bookings get handled centrally by Tui).

@skitech, don't forget that you will have to pay another 22.4% (?) on the purchase price when you bring them into the UK ...

Unfortunately the airport I returned to didnt seem to have anywhere (obvious) to declare my goods.

Back from a great weeks skiing in Hochsolden (despite injuring my ribs on day 2)

After trawling through most of the ski shops in Solden I found the skis I was after in Hochsolden (last pair in the size I wanted). I messaged the "virtual" Rep to ask about booking skis on the return flight. No problem just ring this number or use the Crystal app, (a crystal ski number and the App wasnt playing), so I did. No its not Crystal you need to speak to its TUI flight services, "Ill put you through". After a 20 minute listen to awful muzac I gave up.

I purchase skis, poles and bags X2, confident Ill get to speak to someone and book them on the flight.

Two and a hours of talking to AI messengers, and various call centres and given phone numbers no longer in use, I eventually managed to book my skis on my flight. I'm still waiting for my confirmation email, luckily ski carriage did show on my original booking on the Crystal App.

So the moral of the story is: If your thinking of buying skis in the sales abroad, book them on your flight before you leave.

Role on next season when we get to use them.
