Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Vanoise Express in early April.

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Off to Aime Plagne for skiing from 7th - 12th April.

I got a Paradiski pass but am curious as to whether it is going to be skiable down to the Vanoise Express that time of year.

Anyone got any first hand experience to set my mind at rest / enable me to reconcile with my fate? Puzzled

Sorry it's been a while since I've been that late April, so cannot give you my first hand experience in that regard.

But if it is fully shut for your week, I would image getting comped the difference in price between a Paradiski and a La Plagne only pass would be a fairly easy discussion.

Given how big a selling point the link between la Plagne and Les arcs is, a good amount of effort is put into keeping it open whenever possible. That doesn't mean the skiing down that low will be enjoyable of course, it could well be very slushy and then icy in the shade.

In short, it will likely be open, but it might be naff conditions depending on what you are willing to ski.

It is normally open into the second half of April so you'll be ok.

@bmetwit, I've been at the arse ends of the season (Christmas & Easter) many times staying in Les Coches. They always cannon to buggery both sides the route down to the VE so it always stays open.

In 2011 we went 9th to 16th April. It was a poor year so the base was thin and when we got there it was roasting - over 10 degrees iirc in Les Coches. But the VE and runs to and from stayed open.

The vanoise express is due to stay open until the start of the Easter holidays ie the bank holiday Monday. As @Layne, says they will try very very hard to keep the routes to and from the lift open. I've been there the last week of opening before (later than you are planning) and skied a tiny rippon of slush to the Plan Bois telecabine less than a metre wide but had to take my skis off 3m before the lift. The run back towards Les Arcs was slushy but doable.

But do not worry. There is plenty of good skiing above Aime La Plagne.

been there at Easter 2023...i think almost the same dates as you. And VE was open, although we had rain under 1.800m for a couple of days.

We were there end of March last year staying in La coches it was like summer, but the VE was open and the runs to it although not great were perfectly skiable.
