Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sunweb ski carriage

I see that it is not possible to include ski carriage as part of their flight booking. There web site suggests booking the ski carriage directly with the airline after booking the holiday. This leaves open the risk of finding that the airline refuses ski carriage due to their allocation being full or some other reason.

Has anyone found a way to avoid this risk?

@JimboS, SW are simply booking agents when you take a flight with them. Have you considered booking your own? I assume SW make a mark up on the booking although I may be wrong.

If you book with SW I believe you can go in to your airline booking and add the skis manually yourself.

@Boofont, I've checked that and found the Sunweb price for the flights is much lower than booking direct with the airline.

However taking the hit may be worth it to ensure that I can book on ski bags.

@JimboS, SW say:

    "Ski carriage

If you want to bring ski or snowboard carriage, you can book this directly via the website of the airline."

@Boofont, I think you are missing my point. Airlines do not have unlimited space for ski bags and these are limited on busy flights.

Fine if booking many months in advance however we are now only weeks ahead my travel dates.

@JimboS, just trying to offer advice mate.

Who's the carrier? Think they use EJ and Jet2? If that's the case it's unlikely to be a plane full of skiers with skis. Can't you go to make a booking with the airline right before you book with SW? Try to see if you can add skis? I would say it's a fair bet that if you can add them then that if you book with Sunweb you can immediately add skis then.

Alternative if there's more than one flying. Book all but one on SW, then the remaining person book via the carrier and book all the skis on that booking.

I'll leave it to you.

It's a jet2 Edinburgh to Innsbruck in March, pretty sure everyone in board will be heading out on a ski holiday. Thanks for your suggestions.

In the unlikely event that you can’t book ski carriage, just hire in resort.

EasyJet I would not be worried about at all. They have never run out of space in my experience.

Jet2 could have that issue though, assuming they are still running the weird configuration planes (I think they convert easily to a cargo layout). There customer service is normally pretty good though, so I would just give them a call and ask the question.

Interesting, when I looked before, I have generally found better prices doing my own flight bookings. Maybe it is dependent on route or have they improved?

We're going Manchester Geneva March 15th, booked last week with Sunweb. You need to go onto Jet2 manage my booking and add ski carriage to your flight.
I don't know exactly how it's done as Mrs Sinner doesn't trust me with anything remotely as complicated as flight arrangements, but I think she needed a booking reference which isn't your Sunweb reference, it's the Sunweb/Jet2 reference.

We flew Jet2 Manchester Verona a few weeks ago, booked through Inghams and had to phone them for the reference number.

Usual disclaimers about only one pair of skis per bag etc. ignored without any problems.

We prefer to book independently but the last few years we haven't managed to get close to the package offers we've had.
There are only 2 of us and we usually book quite late, outside of school holidays, which helps.
Our January trip to Madonna through Inghams was well over a grand cheaper than we could have done an equivalent hotel DIY. Our most recent DIY was in 2023 and we tacked a few nights in Verona on the end which we couldn't have done with a Crystal package!

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
