 Poster: A snowHead

Heading to St.Anton next week and Hervis are a good bit cheaper for ski hire than the other shops.
Was wandering if any one has experience of hiring from the and also what is the quality like.
Thanks in advance.

I have hired there, not great, not horrible but now I just stick with Jennewein, they are expensive but the service is good and they are right at the bottom of the Galzig and Nasserien. If you need to change your equipment for any reason you can call into any of their shops and they will have it changed in 10mins. I have done this many times. Changed to touring skis for day tours and changed back to piste skis the next day.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@blkball, Thanks. Staying beside Nasserien lift so think I'll pay the bit extra for Jennewein.

Yet another vote for Jennewein. Been a customer for 21 years and have always had great service.

Has anyone ever tried Hervis ski rental delivery service "Hervis Skilivery". Im looking at it for the family trip next week. I like the concept of skis being delivered to the door (Obertauern in this case). However, the store is not in the resort, its down in Altenmarket, so could be a pb if one of us in the family needs some adjustments. Is the equipment decent and in line with other rental places? Hervis is almost half the cost of the other places. So I'm quite tempted.
I'm a snowboarder but going to ski for the 1st time in 20yrs, si I need to rent equipment. Also renting for the kids.

@ck_v2, the posts above refer to Hervis in St Anton, a long way from Obertauern. Hervis dont have a particularly good reputation for decent kit. The feeling seems to be fine for beginners but for decent kit you need to pay the market rate. No idea who rents kit in Obertauern.

@ck_v2, your big problem might be when you or 1 of your children realise their boots don't fit on day 2. I'd recommend hiring somewhere accessible.

Yes this is my main worry. They do say that you can exchange the skis during the rental period, but I doubt they will drive 30' and on request just to check for the smallest gear questions. So, I think Ill hire in the village. Maybe Ill give it a try when Im more knowledgeable about ski gear.
