Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to stay near(ish) to Bormio?

We have got some Olympic tickets...the day of the Men's Combined.
All the mens alpine events are in Bormio, not Cortina.
I would have preferred the women's alpine at Cortina but absolutely zero tickets at all...and today was Day1 of sales!

So we need accommodations near enough to Bormio to day-trip.
Any ideas gratefully received.
I've already investigated Bormio itself...wow, the providers have noticed the Olympics are in town! $$$$$£££££€€€€

Any ideas?

Guess it's a case of far enough away to have availability but vlose enough to commute.

I've stayed in Tirano at the Hotel Bernina several times in the summer. Not too far to Bormio; according to Google maps it's under 40min .

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Have the organizing committee said anything yet about how they want ticket holders to get there? They might want you to park away from Bormio and get a bus to the site.

Tirano and Sondalo are both sizeable spots. Tirano is a pleasant old town, it has a bit of history and plenty of nice restaurants etc. Sondalo is a bit closer to Bormio, but always looks a bit dark and industrial on the way past. Ive not been into the town though, so it might have nice parts. Our normal accomodation in Livigno has put their price up by over 40% for next January. Dread to think how much they'll be charging when the Olympics are in town the month after.
