Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Sharing a lift with some guy and he had a magnetic lens that he put on top of the existing basic clear orange lens.
Looking on google they may of been Uvex g.gl 3000
Ive splashed out on a pair of oakleys so not looking to spend a fortune
So willing wait for a discounted pair on ebay/FB or maybe a second hand pair

What ones have you got and any trouble with the magnetic lens staying on ??

thanks

I don't have them but the Oakley Line Miner Pro get good reviews and are on sale at SnowInn (be aware different sizes are available):

https://www.tradeinn.com/snowinn/en/oakley-line-miner-pro-l-ski-goggles/140863511/p?utm_source=google_products&utm_medium=merchant&id_producte=143218326&country=uk&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA74G9BhAEEiwA8kNfpRPfOzj7-9hLG07-1Dmq7oVu1-3rVamsKuRtd-vHi4QCrnJS7XhnHRoC0voQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

They are single glazed which makes them particularly clear apparently, though some say a little more prone to fogging (but easy to change lens if that happens).

Have a pair of goggles from Summit that have been fine for many years - you remove one lens and replace with another. Never had any issues

https://summitworldwide.co/

I also have a set from decathlon where a darker lens clips over the top of the lighter lens.

I got the decathlon set as they fit over my specs

Have had the lens pop off once, becuase I'd not made damn sure the magnetic tabs were properly engaged

I've got the Outdoor Master Ultra that have a magnetic lens system.

Easy to swap and have never had a lens pop out on me yet.

@nbt, the summit goggles with the magnetic changeable lenses are great. At first I thought perhaps a gimmick as I rarely changed lenses or goggles in the past, but the ability to arrive at the top of the mountain in terrible light and to swap them with gloves on within a few seconds is brilliant. Not quite the same as what the OP saw.

I've only had an issue with them once when faffing about pulling them off my face and managing to throw the lens into the snow in the process snowHead

Customer service was excellent too, when my pair got delayed in shipping beyond their control they had me sorted in time for my trip.

@wasley, decathlon is the only make I know where you add a lens to an existing lens, as others have said most manufactures have you remove one lens and add another if needed.

I've got Smith 'magnetic + locking tab' ones and eat my fare share of snow skiing off piste last week without issue - but not cheap.

No idea on make/model but one of my friends children has goggles like that (and not the linked Decathlon ones). That's not especially useful but what is, is that he likes speed, crashing, and fiddling and hasn't lost the outer 'stick' on lens yet...

I have some from Uvex, which are excellent - https://www.uvex-sports.com/en/technologies/lens-technologies/take-off

The base lens is clear/yellow, and then a dark lens fits on top. Never an issue with the lens coming off. And they fit my Uvex helmet perfectly.

I grabbed smith io mag this autumn for about £120-140, for 2 lenses I think its a good deal.

Then I had a chance to use them in the December, they are fine, but I had one issue, ive been doing offpiste run, just while returning back to piste, my skis catched a shark and i went over the bars landing to the flozen piste edge (on the ungroomed side of the piste) right on the head, luckily Ive been wearing the helmet but it was quite a strong hit so the lense flew out of the googles, not sure if I latch them properly thought, but this is how it went. huge hole in the helmet, ripped pants, but luckily no injuries. Stay safe out there.

I have these. I would agree prone to freezing and fogging.

Although they're designed to go with their helmets, the Ruroc magnetic goggles work as standalone and are very good. They're also currently on one heck of a discount. https://www.ruroc.com/en_gb/ski-snowboard/goggle
