So, I'm looking to go at the start of half term (yes, I know!!!)
One adult, one teenager
And looking at different websites (i.e. Heidi)
But are there any sites you would recommend?
and also, are there any resorts you would recommend? with short and simple transfers?

Not France, probably not Austria. Fly to Turin, rent a car, easy drive to Aosta, book an apartment in Aosta, ski in Pila.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I did it with my daughter, year before last. Worked well. I did catch Covid, but...... that could happen anywhere!

@BbqBob, what do you like to ski, how long for (the week?) and cheap or money not a big factor? There are a lot of short transfers but price can vary.
Oops, should read the title shouldn't I.

You'll need to Register first of course.

If you can avoid any weekend ski-days it would be good - Pila is much busier at weekends

I've been keeping an eye out for a cheap short getaway as well, does not seem to be much going as most websites with good deals are catered toward week long stays

Bargain four day stays at half term are in the hens teeth category. ..

Try https://www.skiweekends.com/ but not sure how much would be left to choose from. See what there is , look at the price, then check the transfer time, that might be the way to go if you want a TO holiday.

The shorter the stay, the more economical the cost of renting a car is, compared to transfers, which are the same for two days or a week (often more for short trips, if one of the days is mid week).

If it helps, Heidi's now doing "everything but the transfer" packages as well, you just have to contact Sales directly.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Go DIY, opens up loads of areas if you don't mind hiring a car from your chosen airport. Almost endless choices. Italy would probably be best to avoid the crowds, or Austria, but a little more expensive, probably with fewer flight choices.
If you want a short transfer (and a cheap one) go to Geneva and use one of the transfer services from there. I've used Alpybus and Gomassif. With Alpybus you can get to the Chamonix valley (all resorts), Le Fayet for Ski Evasion (now more practical with the new Gondola direct into the Saint Gervais ski area this year) or Morzine and Les Gets. I'm using them for Tignes Val Claret in April, but that is a longer transfer. Gomassif serves the Grand Massif ski areas of Flaine, Les Carroz, Morillon and Samoens. Use the usual sites such as booking.com to book accommodation, or even better contact the hotels direct for the best prices.
If you're looking for a bargain and potentially quieter slopes, head to the far South of the French Alps from Nice Airport. Often overlooked, but conditions were great last February (they're not bad now also). I took my own family to La Foux D'allos last February half-term and was rewarded with bargain prices and surprisingly terrific skiing. The link between La Foux D'allos and Pra Loup has amazing terrain, as long as you're a competent intermediate, but there are slopes to suit everyone. Auron and Isola are also good for a few days if a slightly shorter transfer is preferred. There are bus and train options to the resorts from Nice depending on your timings. We had a great day in Nice to enjoy some spring sunshine before returning.
One last mention, I've got a soft for spot for Chamonix. A lot of people don't like it, mainly as you'll end up using the free ski buses to the areas every day. But the terrain and views are probably some of the best in the world (Mont Blanc Massif, say no more). There is skiing to suit every ability, its not just steep and deep. La Tour is very cruisy and mainly intermediate, but the other areas have good intermediate terrain as well. Just not so much for beginners. IMO its perfect for a short break, but just maybe not in mid-Feb (crowds?).

 You know it makes sense.

defo go DIY, virtually all tour operators will have a flight landing in middle of day so they can use the same (mini-)bus to take people from resort to airport and airport to resort, thus skiing opportunities on travel days virtually zero.
DIY - a silly o'clock flight out and an evening flight back, hand baggage only with a short-ish transfer and faff free "change and get out there" arrival in resort gets you 3.5 days skiing in your 4 days.
Pam's Turin suggestion is a decent one, opens up Aosta Valley and Via Lattea / Bardo as quick transfer options.

Also do-able from Milan Bergamo (Approx 2hrs 20mins to Aosta for the 15 min. gondola ride up to Pila.) I'm just back - see my trip report from yesterday. For reasons unknown, car hire from Bergamo is ridiculously cheap this winter. Like £6-8 for 4 days! And Ryanair flights can be very cheap. We hired skis at the gondola in Aosta - €90 online for two of us for 4 days, versus £90 ski carriage with Ryanair.

Interski are great for the Aosta valley, I've used them for a short break (Aosta/Pila) and two family half term holidays (La Thuile). I've been very happy with their service.
