 Poster: A snowHead

Hello,
Am I right in thinking that some ski passes can be “topped up” and reused in a different resort? We’ve got PdS passes from last year and it’d be convenient if we can use these when we buy our passes of La Thuile at half term. Is this possible? How does it work?

Yes. There a couple of different types used, but as long as its same type you can add a pass to it online or get it loaded at the ticket office.

 Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I re-used my 3 year old Evasion Mont Blanc pass this year. Just quoted the pass number and topped up on-line.

Lots of the big resorts use the same system. If the long number starts with 01- (and then usually 1614) then that card can be used across resorts. I have been reusing cards for years, but you would need to know what system the place you are going to uses. Tignes, Zermatt, courmayeur PDS and 3V all use the same system (from memory)

 Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Yes, I have 01-1614 cards from Tignes and we used fine topped up in Val Thorens last year. Also going to La Thuile at half term and have trialled buying a San B pass and loading onto my Tignes 01-1614 to see if it would work. Registered the card absolutely fine so will use the 4 we have when buying passes.
If you buy your passes online I think you have to register yourself/each person and you can provide an existing card/pass number. Once registered you just allocate your purchase to your pass/card number. Probably easier if you're doing in person - you'd hope others are doing this and that you won't get a funny look/issues passing over a card linked to another resort!
Personally I also take a print out of the lift pass purchase with me on day 1 just in case!

 You'll need to Register first of course.

Definitely..We used our passes from The Lecht to ski in Ruka in Finland...doubt there were many other folks on the piste with passes from a small Scottish hill. Recharged them online, no issues whatsoever..saved about 30 odd euros for a family of four.

@MotownJunk, there are two types:
TeamAxess passes in resorts like La Plagne etc have numbers starting WTP: xxxxxxxx-xxx-xxx
SkiData is used by other resorts and has number format 01-1614 xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx-x
If you have the right type you are good. When you purchase online, if you say you have a card you want to load to, it will ask you for the number.

Portes de Soleil is Axxess and La Thuile is Skidata, so I don't think they'll be compatible.
