 Poster: A snowHead
|
Hi all,
I’ve been lucky enough to spend a month in Les Arc this season, and would like to mark it by putting a Les Arc sticker on my Helmet (Smith Vantage).
It’s one of the free stickers you can get from the tourism office in Bourg.
I know this has been discussed before so I do apologise, but is it safe to put stickers on helmets, specifically in-mould style helmets.
Anyone have experiences good/bad with stickers and helmet integrity?
Thanks in advance.

Huh? Its a sticker.
Dont tell me theres some issue (apart from trying to get them off), there’re all over my kids’ helmets.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@ster, Apparently there’s rules in the world of motorbikes around stickers and plastic safety? I know it sounds crazy and paranoid (probably is).

They should tell some of the cycle sportifs where they give you an entrant sticker for your helmet..................
I think you can probably comfort yourself that - while there is probably a technical degradation of the plastics, it will remain viable until the next time you renew (as the manufacturers will doubtless be telling you in a year or so that MIPS is indeed not the best thing since sliced bread....but their new gizmo is !).

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I would hate to think the small SH sticker on the back of mine could cause an avoidable injury, I’d have to sue!

As long as your glue isn't benzene, petroleum, acetone or - god help you - carbon tetrachloride based you're fine. You'd probably know as all of those need a little warning sticker on the sticker...
Ironically as stickers block UV the area and polycarbonate takes damage from UV exposure, the area below any stickers should be stronger over time.

Of all the risks and dangers involved in skiing not sure stickers on my helmet rank above spilling Russian energy drinks in the hottub or having a fever and the only prescription being more cowbell.

@AlIre2024, I can’t see that a resort would use glue that would damage ski helmets. I think you’ll be safe on this one.

I once had a helmet that came with a QR code sticker. You fill in the details online. If someone finds your lost helmet (or you!), then scanning the QR code gives contact details.
So yeah - stickers are fine.

@AlIre2024, stick 'em up! And @Admin will sell you a whole sheet of sweet sweet Snowheads stickers to make your lid extra fancy, and probably make you ski faster too

 You know it makes sense.

@Richard_Sideways, alternatively, if you leave your skis, helmet, poles, or anything else with a flattish surface, unattended he might sticker them up for free
