 Poster: A snowHead

I was wondering how easy it is to get to 1800 and back from 1950. It's no problem for my wife and I but i was wondering if my kids would find it difficult or not, its their second ski holiday after a week in lessons. They are having lessons this time also. Right now they are fairly comfortable on steady blues. I think i worked out a way they can go to and from there on blues but as we all know, some blues can feel like reds.

What resort? Based on the numbers I'm guessing Les Arcs but it's a bit cryptic. (I suggest editing your post, including the title, to include the resort name.)

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

How are they on the blue vallee de’l’arc from 1950 down to pre st esprit and comborciere? I found that quite scraped, and a bit hairy owing to the traffic and the risks taken by some of the other skiers. If they’re comfortable on that then they’ll be fine going to/from 1800 I’d suspect.
Note: I’ve struggled with the runs at the bottom of 1800 at the end of the day, especially the one that captures all the traffic to the transarc base station. Looks like a scene from a war at times, bodies strewn everywhere (only a slight exaggeration).
The run down closest to 1950/2000 (ie furthest skiers right, away from the Peisey direction) at the end of traversee 2 has been better, and you can do an easyish back/forth mountain track below the dahu lift to get to the bottom once you’re lower.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Yeah sorry, Les Arcs. Not sure how to edit the topic. We are staying in Les Arcs 1950 but after their lessons finish at mid day we want to take them over to 1800. Would be great to get them all the way over to La Plagne but i think thats too ambitious in an afternoon. To get there and back.

@Sherzy13, easy for relatively new skiers to get to Arc 1800. Last week, things were a bit scraped / hard packed at the bottom by Transarc. Carreley was a better option.
Any reason for asking about getting to Arc 1800 I in particular? Arc 1600, Plan Peisey and Vallandry equally easy for a blue run skier to access.

@Sherzy13, from Arc 1800 take the transarc to the col de la chal then dents du peigne piste. Either turn off onto Plan or continue to the Marmottes chairlift and hence to 2000. These are very easy blue pistes and would be green if Les Arcs did greens. I took my nepthew from 2000 to combourciere, to the transarc and back that route on his third day on skis. It's a lovely circuit but can be busy at the top end of Belvedere and especially where Belvadere, Traverse and Vagere converge. If you are a little nervous of crowds then turning right just before the Arpette restaurant onto traverese (previouslus known as Source) then left down Gollet is a much quieter and TBH more pleasant route to 1800.
If you are nervous about going through Arc1800 I wouldn't even contemplate going to La Plagne. Save the money and buy a Classic lift pass.

@sugarmoma666, we want to go to as many places as possible but we have a reservation at La Fruitere around 14:30 one of our days and would prefer not getting a bus. Plus as it looks quite lively in 1800 we might have a wee mooch about. Thanks for the advice.
@johnE, Thanks for advice, i'll plan it out on the piste map. We already got the Paradiski tickets with the holiday. Even though my wife and I are advanced boarders it probably would be a push to get to La Plagne and back in time to pick the kids up from ski school but the price difference in the package wasn't much.

@Sherzy13, I see, leave the kids in ski school and head for la plagne on your own. The vanoise express is worth going over but you won’t get far in la plagne. If the snow is good then the forests just the other side can be enjoyable. Do not try to come back along route des bouches. Just crossing over on the vanoise express can be fun in its own right so can a trip down the funicular to bourg st Maurice. Get right in the front
