Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zermatt Alpine (Race) Boots/Bindings Rental

Is there a place in Zermatt to rent alpine boots and bindings? To clarify, hard boots specifically for snowboarding.

I love being hated on by both skiers and snowboarders.

You're not hated on by skiers, we only hate those guys with soft boots. Especially at the après-ski! NehNeh

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

...and you're not hated by the soft booters - we just regard you as a weird uncle.

As for rentals. Its been a long ol' while since I saw any hardbooter bindings in a rental place that weren't screwed to a wall next to the taxidermy marmot. When was the last time you successfully rented? You may be better off going onto eBay and buying yourself a set of bindings and taking them with you, then renting a board and boots in store and mounting them.

About 20 years ago I moved to a far away country with no snow, in exchange for beaches. The thrill of the beach has worn off, and last year I hit Japow.

Rewind to the past, in Colorado I used to use hard boots everywhere (65/60 angles) with step in bindings on Burton Alps and a variety of other boards.

Back to the last year at Niseko, everything on softboots was so inferior. What absolutely killed me was the inability to increase the binding angles past 37 degrees! WHY? The heelside carves were weak, edge control dictated by my calf and shin strength, long traverses to the steep and deep a torment, my rear knee sore from trying to drive my hips into the turn, moguls a nightmare because I couldn't drive straight at them.

So I was hoping to relive the glory days.

What is even worse? My fallback snow sport was telemarking. Seriously.

Ebay is hard for me in the country where I live.

Thanks for the replies! This old uncle out.
