Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Does anyone know if winter tyres are provided as standard for Hire Cars at Memmingen Airpoert? I presume they are as i think that area of Germany they are mandatory in winter conditions but I wanted to check. It doesn't mention it on the hire agreement (Alomo) We are driving to Austria from there in February (cross border is ok as it says on agreement)
I will also try to contact the memmingen office to verify too.

@daveqpr
, contacting the Memmingen office is a good idea, but i'd expect winter tyres on the vehicles as it's mandatory in Germany.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@daveqpr
, 3PMSF tyres are now mandatory in Germany during the winter months (technically when conditions demand it but for rental cars that means they will come with them). Where are you going to? If you are heading for Lech then best ensure the vehicle is either 4x4 or get chains as that is often a requirement on the road up from Stuben. Unlikely to be needed elsewhere.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Thank you all for info and that reinforced what I already thought.
@munich_irish
, We are going to Saalbach which I know is a flat(ish) drive. I know it's a fair drive but the plan is to fly on the Friday and then drive to the hotel in Kieferfelsden for the night then leave very early Saturday morning to arrive for a day's Saturday skiing. Coming home the plan is to either ski all day on last Saturday then stay in Munich Ibis Styles Hotel, or have optional trip to Bayern Munich Stadium on the last Saturday instead of skiing. (I want to carry on Skiing but Son prefers stadium trip!)
