Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Oops - unintended deconstruction of binding

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I was loosening the bindings for storage and went a bit far....
I'm guessing I just need to screw it back in, but the spring makes it difficult. Tips please Very Happy

What year do you live in? This is completely unnecessary and may result in unwanted deconstruction of bindings Laughing

Oops indeed Very Happy

Point the ski down such that you can lean on the screwdriver vertically, then locate the assembly and push down on the screwdriver so the threads get to their location, now turn it anti clockwise until it clicks, this finds the screw thread "lead" to give start point (all the time keeping pressure on the screw against the spring) then turn it clockwise to start it, at least one full turn.

It should then be located enough to hold itself without pushing back out, to now tighten as normal.

If that's the case then they're wrong as well. It's completely out of date /unnecessary / unfounded myth (take your pick) Cool
Do you jack up your car up to take the weight/tension off the springs when you're not using it?

For reassembly, I'd follow @ski3s, method above but try to make sure the screw isn't at an angle when you start it in (tricky with the spring pressure) and stop if there's much resistance, as you could have cross-threaded it. That's not the end of the world/binding but it could be if you keep forcing it.

Has the "pinkster" a penchant for plaid attire ? I don't identify as he/she Very Happy

Mine are a "black watch ceremonial" thick wool trouser, supply via gov-surplus emporium, identified for me by someone from that regiment (bespoke tartan) I met while skiing Valley Blsnche in Chamonix Very Happy

Quite a high performing trouser too, complete with labelling internal "Trews, regimental persons for the wearing of" and yes, none of my ski contemporaries will stand near me in a lift que.

@adithorp, The car's springs aren't 'calibrated' - unlike bindings or a torque wrench which should also be loosened after use, so it did make sense Cool

@homers double, I've just bought them off @adithorp snowHead

I have the Marker TPX12 bindings on my Nordica Spitfires... and I managed to do exactly the same "over loosening" as you last year. I suspect that there is not much additional screwthread once you reach the bottom DIN setting.

As others have said, push the end with the spring in as hard as you can while turning the screwdriver with the other.
It does work... eventually. I can't remember.. but it was so much easier with the heel down/up (what I can't remember is which one it was!!!!)
