@Jäger,
Heh. You got some good skis, though. I run the later version of the S9 in 165cm, and its brilliant.

Also, on topic, it depends. From my last trip, success was defined by getting out to ski in the morning after falling in from a drum and bass night at 4am.
I am too old for this s***.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The ultimate success was getting pow in 6 days out of 10, great food and company, no injuries, a beer/ bulleit bourbon and a Zoot in the evening - this was Whistler 2022 and wait for it...arrived at YVR and was asked if we wanted to take a flight home the following night, get put up at a hotel transfers etc all included plus 2200cad paid to us each. I won't mention anything else as 'what happens in Granville stays in Granville!!'

For me ultimate success is snowboarding those dream deep powder lines. Surfing pow. There is nothing like it.

Well, no! The lost G9’s were better (for me) and, when I reported the loss/mistake to the Police (insurance related), they advised that I couldn’t keep the S9s because technically that would be stealing….so they now have them .

@Jäger, when you get new skis, identify them (especially if they are sold in quantity to make many around at lifts) with sticker or similar near tip.
You can easily see them, as in this case, being moved or skied on. Just makes it easy to separate out of a crowd with a decent visible marker.

Think I've just had a successful ski trip - good enough snow, relatively quiet pistes, dodgy knee didn't explode, food excellent, minimal hangovers, great saunas.
For once due to the knee this trip has been less about distance covered and getting around everywhere, and more about hitting the quality, and I genuinely feel I've skied better as a result. Bit of a lesson learned, and coming away from a trip with confidence at a high is a win

Where was the drum and bass night?! This would improve a ski trip!

Cafe Chaud. (In)conveniently right behind my friend's flat! And also now owned by another friend...which makes willpower hard to exercise...

@Harry Flashman, willpower? Never met him... A trip to Morzine is in order.

For me a successful ski trip, at its most basic level, is skiing everyday and coming back with no new injuries.
Of course a sh*t ton of powder, some good apres and a beautiful, blonde Scandinavian woman falling in love with me wouldn’t hurt

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@Hal Apeno, irony for you would be having your trip spoilt by having a beautiful brunette French woman falling in love with you!

That doesn’t sound too bad to be honest!

 You know it makes sense.

On topic: when my kids want to come back the next Sunday and ski again. We’re mainly daytrip skiing this season to get them practice on different snow/ slopes and different places. When they want to go in the bar at the bottom of the piste I know i’ll have succeeded!

One of the most beautiful things I've ever witnessed was a snowboarder surfing along the ridge near the top of the Bois de l'ours lift in Les Arcs. We watched in awe as he cut a perfect line across, without losing any height. When our chair got level with the ridge, we could see the perfect track he'd left behind. Incredible to witness.
