 Poster: A snowHead

Late Friday afternoon, I received a phone call from the son of some good friends, who I've met a few times over the season, and he asked if I could help out; as he had a very specific request.
He went on to explain how he was going to propose to his girlfriend of some 9yrs at a specific location, which was off-piste, and could I help out with taking photos as well as bringing the fizz if she said yes.
He was going to kneel down to do the proposal etc
We both knew that this had to be scoped out more fully so he managed to escape and we met up in a bar later.
My concern was that the off-piste was not exactly soft, though we both surmised that it would be hardpack rather than breakable crust etc
I suggested that they come off the lift and go to stand under the avy flag top of Vallons lift (I sent him an image of that to be sure), he sent me a photo of what they would be wearing and his GF was also a snowboarder and I sent an image of what I'd be wearing etc
Then once he had clocked me they would ski down to where he would stop for a picnic with me following from a distance to see where this would be. I would then ski back down and get the lift back up and ping him three times when I was getting off the lift.
Then when he saw me he would get on his knees and propose and if successful I would then ski down with the bottle and glasses etc and try to get photos !!
In the morning I went cross-country skiing which ended up being much tougher than expected as the snow was too cold (-10) for gliding.
Back home quick turn around into alpine gear and up the hill and arrived at the top of Vallons with ten mins to spare and a nervous wait, and spot on 13:00 saw them coming up the lift and was quite surprised there was no obvious recognition as after a min under the flag so they headed down.
Once I could see where they were going to stop I carried on down and on the way back up on the lift could see them and took the photo below.
Then it was a case of not getting too close and not being too obvious as I could then see him kneel down.
When I saw the kiss I knew things had gone well and took my backpack off to get the fizz & glasses out.
Then I was able to ski down and get better photos
Happy days and glad to be part of it; and a few hours later had his very happy Mother on the phone to me, so a few drinks will flow when they're out here on Tuesday!
Knee now really sore after skiing that snow, but as he said, he didn't know anyone else who he could ask, though it doesn't make my knee feel any better this morning, fortunately have physio booked for tomorrow who will not be too sympathetic

Well done, the photos are fine, and you have a better excuse for a knee injury than I had, which was: I knelt down to talk to an accountant seated at her desk!
