Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Cherbourg to La Rosiere

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all, our ferry from Ireland in March gets into Cherbourg around 11 am on Friday morning, we are then driving about 4-5 hours, doing an overnight stop and then set off early Saturday morning for La Rosiere. We have driven this before and always end up going round Paris and onto the A6 South, not looking forward to hitting Paris on a Friday afternoon. Has anyone got a better route that avoids Paris. I have booked an Ibis Budget at Nemours just off the A6 but it is free to cancel if a better route is available. Many thanks. Tim B

We have done the Le Mans, tours, clermont Ferrand route and stopped overnight at Lyon Bron Novotel. Have also stopped at Accor hotels in Vierzon or Bourges on previous trips. It is an hour longer than going via Paris I think but less stressful. The route above is all motorway. The only thing to be aware of is that there is an uphill stretch between Clermont and Lyon and it was snowing in that area but fortunately not settling when we last did this route. In March you should be fine.

There is also another option of cutting across to Macon from Montlucon on a new stretch of motorway. Check the toll situation there as it is overhead cameras not standard peage.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
