Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

It's something that ought to have been standardised throughout the EU years ago (along with many other things)
Didn't that highly honourable Johnson chap promise it as a benefit of Brexit, along with the extra £350m a week for the NHS? wink

Why do you have to whinge and bring Johnson and Brexit into a non political discussion?
And no, I don't think he specifically mentioned rules on cabin luggage.

Fact is, Ryanair is an Irish company, KLM is Dutch, and EJ operate throughout Europe, so outside the jurisdiction of the UK, but well within the jurisdiction of the EU, and someone ought to have proposed EU wide rules on cabin baggage to prevent EU passengers being ripped off decades ago, (long before Brexit).

The facility to do so already exists under EU law, it just needs the appropriate Minister in post to actually do something practical and useful* instead of sitting on their #rses and thinking what else they can claim on their expenses.

At the very least, if a customer bought "approved size" luggage from the carrier, then it ought to be viable for the lifetime of that luggage, not only 12 months until said carrier reduces their dimensions in order to sell more luggage.

*in the same way that (20 years too late) a decision was finally made regarding phone chargers.
Useful, practical, everyday decisions by EU Ministers being seen to be of benefit to members of the public, and preventing them being ripped off might have avoided Brexit in the first place.

Apart from phone chargers, can anyone suggest any other such practical decisions in the last 20 years?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

One of my family went out last Saturday, BA, 23kg allowed in ski bag.

Big pair of skis with hire bindings + poles, secured in "conventional" arrangement of base to base, these and poles both in the two interior straps to keep them in place even if opened.
Plus jacket, ski pants, gloves, wash bag & other odds and ends .... @ 15.8 kg total.

Not a big bag, room available for another pair if bindings removed.

Additional notes:- we make laminated tabs with name and Mb number visible, punch hole and loop of para-cord through. You can put them on skis, poles etc, anything really.
Gives traceability direct to you if they get lost or airlabel removed. Could even be on a transfer coach where the flight code means nothing. Anyone finding them can contact you direct if needed. Often in lost property no logical trace exists to help. A few of these, even one on outside, well give a chance should that occur.

We also make id loop for luggage handles. Coloured duct tape or similar, 10 inch piece, fold back on itself sticky to sticky side, but leave 2 inch spare sticky on one end, loop it through luggage handle and secure for individual visual reference.
Good if travelling in a group, anyone can recognise a "left" piece of luggage in baggage reclaim, transfer coach bowels Very Happy anywhere really. Serves as a catch all for the group.
Also if someone else has picked up your bag that maybe the same as theirs, you can confidently "reclaim " it.

And another thing, mobile phone home screen, put a contact number on it that can be read without security so someone finding it can at least get a route back to you. Seen three lost/unaccompanied phones skiing environment, no idea to whom they belong and not able to get in to find anything useful that could help repatriation.
