Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Livigno to St Moritz?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Greetings all,

Does anyone know if it is feasible to drive from Livigno to St Moritz for a day, to see how the other half live?

They look close together on the map, but that has got me in serious trouble before!

Thanks - Duvet

Yes, very easy, there's a tunnel. Not sure about a mountain pass route though in summer.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Have not driven myself but went with the hoarde and the TO. Again like yourself wanted to see how the other half live. Is it not a long enough drive just to get to Livigno????

Duvet, I've been to the top of the Bernina pass in winter a couple of times to go skiing at Lagalb and Diavolezza, so I don't think there should be any problems with the pass in summer. You are talking about going over in summer right?

Duvet, Yep, Winter or Summer. The TOs all run day trips to SM but as Roy says, do you want another bus ride just to spend half a day spending?

St Moritz actually has some great ski terrain, which is a very good reason to go there!

It's a very beautiful part of the Alps too, winter or summer, with the lake and everything.

Sorry - didn't make myself clear. We are going there on a ski trip next year. I have always wanted to see St Moritz after seeing a film about it when I was a wee nipper - I reckon this might be my only chance - unless Simon Cowell hears me singing in the shower Madeye-Smiley

Duvet, like DG says there is in fact some great skiing in St. Moritz, so why not spend a bit more time there? If St.Moritz itself sounds a bit too expensive ( and no one can claim that it's cheap ) then you can stay a bit outside in Pontresina, and can then take advantage of the skiing up on Bernina as well. Piz Lagalb is one of my very favourite ski mountains. Only one lift up. A great, I mean really great, restaurant at the top, and down the front of Lagalb some of the best lift connected off piste in the world! Gotta try it. Also if you are feeling brave, and it's open, then try the run down the Diavolezza glacier and get the swiss mountain railway back up to Bernina. It's a different kind of skiing.

What you save on duty free (Thank's Napolean!) in Livigno you can spend on the higher prices in St Moritz.

seeing as you will be that close it would be a shame not to go.

enjoy ! Shock
