Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Reliable taxi for Manchester Airport

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Looking for a taxi company to go from South Manchester to Manchester Airport.
Must understand that when you say there are 4 people with 4 large bags and skis they don't send a basic estate car and wonder why everything won't fit in.
Especially if you have mentioned the requirements when booking

South Manchester is a big place for a taxi recommendation.

Any firm local to you that runs minibuses is what you need. No point trying to get a standard taxi as 4 plus bags plus skis is more capacity than pretty much any normal car. Even a 7 seater like a Galaxy would struggle with that.

Try looking for something like an 8-12 seater?

@1015, book two cabs to the airport or cabs to the train station and the train to the airport.

Or if a morning flight, travel easy to the airport the night before and stay in an airport hotel.

@1015, used Street Cars of Manchester last week and found their service good. They understood the need for an appropriate vehicle with ski gear. That said, 2 vehicles might be needed for your group + kit.

Slightly OT, we booked a service from Derbyshire to LHR with our local company, explained in advance we had 4 people and 2 large ski bags etc. They sent a galaxy. Not a chance it was going in. Luckily we had plenty time, the driver went back to the yard which is only a mile away and came back in a 16 seater minibus for us! On the return a suitable vehicle was provided. You'll need to specify exactly what you need is the lesson learned, I thought I had, but they just thought 4 people and a bit of luggage....

Not sure how much it would cost you to book an 8-12 seater, but if there are four of you (and you have your own vehicle big enough to take your bags) it probably won't work out much more to just share the cost of airport parking at Jetparks or Drop and Go, which is about £50-60 for the week. I only live 12 miles from the airport, but this is what I normally do.

Metro are normally pretty reliable - I'd say call them and explain what you need
