 Poster: A snowHead

These used to exist, and you can get something from China (albeit with a big battery) ... does anyone have any experience or recommendations? I'm finding I just can't reliable keep fog out on a snowy day - despite trying everything, think helmets don't help. So hoping that electrically heated windscreens will do the job ....

@pisteoff, there used to be (may still be) goggles with a built in electric fan to avoid misting up....

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I tried the ones with a fan - didn't work for me. I am assuming electric car windscreen defogging technology works, and hoping it doesn't need too much power ... Someone had an old pair of these at PIPAU and liked them ... but long since obsolete

Try googling 'heated snowmobile goggles', there's quite a choice out there, none cheap unfortunately. Then there's the usual suspects, AliExpress, Timu, etc...

Can't advise on heated goggles (I used to have the ones with a fan, but they broke), but my fogging issues reduced a lot when I changed to a helmet with vents above where the goggles sit.

The heated ones were called Abom , if I remember correctly, there's a thread on skitalk.com about their current status.

Fans work for fog, but not freezing fog, which is on the outside of the lens and requires heat....which to date means my bare hand. I'm threatening to get some heated snowmobile goggles....as noted by @MajorQ, they are spendy. Saw some on ride509.com, looks like a mere $350 or so will get it done. Interestingly, their FAQs say these may be too warm or too big for use in skiing, so I'm hoping someone with experience chimes in....

Have you considered a visor helmet? probably cheaper than buying very fancy goggles

Decided these are what I want - only available in UK and Canada - but they look perfect and you can have photochromic lens ... Now how to get hold of a pair? https://tempestoptics.com/

There are companies in the US, whose business is... you order stuff, it's delivered to them. Then they ship the stuff to you, wherever you are. My mates used to buy snowboard stuff that way, when the US purchase tax system allowed tax free out of state shipments. But otherwise, use US friends. All those routes risk UK import duties and VAT, mind. The other approach is just to come over here and buy stuff and then use it...
I'm assuming you're not making the usual mistakes with goggle handling

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I used to have a pair of fan assisted ski goggles and they worked very well.
The brand was Scott or Smith, they eventually disintegrated and I could never find fan assisted ski goggles again. There seem to be plenty of skidoo, paintball options.
In any case I bought a pair of these electrically operated demisters and they work very well.

They may even be the same as the Tempest goggles, just rebranded.
I do miss my fan assisted goggles as they worked with a couple of AA batteries. The rechargeable batteries I have on the Nordik goggles are dormant all year which can’t do the rechargeable battery much good.
In any case all of the above is highly recommended as I steam goggles up really really easily, so without them I’d have to be content with a pair of sunglasses in a low light / foggy / snow storm conditions.
All of that said, my wife reminds me that I am the very definition of a blue sky skier, so quite which risk I think I am mitigating escapes her!
I shipped via Stackry which I use quite frequently and it works very well.
