Last season, I fell in love with skiing; I went from having never been skiing before to hitting blacks at 113kmph in Gudauri/Georgia in less than 8 days.
This year, I dedicated 3 months (from the 7th of January to the 7th of April) to explore the Italian North-West mountains.
I'll be sharing an apartment with friends in the little town of Morgex, 15 15-minute drive to La Thuile and 10 15-minute drive to Courmayeur.
I'm totally not loaded. , I bought my first (2ndhand) skis and boots (Rossignol Sky HD 7 from 2017, Lange 110 boots) for about 350 including poles and helmet
This year, I'm hoping to descend the Mont Blanc, beat my speed record, and potentially start competing in competitive skiing.
Does anyone have any advice in general? Are there good places to visit, routes to go, or guides you recommend?
I was considering buying the Aosta valley pass, but the steep price (1.400EUR) hurts a lot. Does it make sense?
Any advice would be much loved, and I would also love to meet anyone in the areas!

Advice, yeah ski the heck away from where we are. But luckily we will have left the area by then.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I always love some sneers @ster, but after 12 years of inline skates and a dedicated training schedule I had with private instructors, I got to learn that as long with the right practice and good gear, things will work out fine.
@mf., oh be aware the Polizia are stopping skiers in the area they feel are speeding or are out of control. You may think its fine, they might have a different view. I believe its two strikes and you are out, i.e. lift pass confiscated.
PS Its not a sneer, I really wouldnt want someone out to break a speed record skiing on a public piste around us.
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@mf.,
For someone who claims not to be loaded you've got one very expensive ambition - starting competitive skiing. You'd need specialist tuition and new skis, boots & poles at the least.
By 'descend the Mont Blanc' do you mean ski the Vallee Blanche?
If you are looking to break your own speed record then do your 3 months in a resort that has a designated speed skiing run. The Flying KM in les Arcs comes to mind, but you can no longer do it without being regulated.
Why not use your 3 months to improve your on piste technique (you are not as good as you think you are, as will become rapidly apparent to you when you see other seasonnaires skiing) & give off-piste a try?
Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

@mf., on the plus side, the valley is gorgeous, the food is excellent (Gros Cidac in Aosta for big shops!), we had a wonderful two months in Aosta with the valley pass.
As @ster says the piste police don't mess about, so you might need to put aside your speed record. Your best bet may be to contact the tourist office to see if there are any race clubs you could get involved with while you're there? Then at least you'd be hooning on a closed piste with no danger to the public. And that's not a sneer - pistes are routinely closed for race training, for good reason! Sofia Goggia was training on one of the reds in Pila when we were there, piste was a death trap after.
If your off piste aspirations mean you need decent kit, best value in the valley I reckon is technosport in Aosta. No idea on guides, sorry!
We had a valley pass and liked visiting all the different areas. However, if you're concentrating on training you could get a single area pass (which usually gets you a couple of days elsewhere anyway.

Not trying to troll here, more trying to be as efficient as possible @Markscotski, @Snow&skifan, @under a new name, . Thanks to everyone for providing some insights!
@ElzP, I'll contact them! That's a good idea! Love the food recommendation, especially as someone who loves to cook, Italy is so much to look forward to!
@Kenzie, I'd be keen to enjoy a race, not needing to become an Olympic! Nonetheless, I'm aware that some funds are required, rather than needing to use them without waste. I'm definitely not planning to run this speed record on the red or family slopes. Likely intend to do this on a steeper piste in early morning, likely a week day.
Regarding the police, what's the actual speed limit I should keep in mind or how do I also make sure to not go over the local rules? Happy to read up or get more info on that! @ster
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

There is a masters race group in Pila, Technosport have a good selection of race equipment.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

@mf., take the skyway lift up Monte Bianco, clip in and head straight down, you’ll be fine
You know it makes sense.

@mf., you might as well run up to the peak and back first...show those Italians what a proper mother fluffing ski racer in training can do!!
