Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Interesting spread of dates boredsurfin.
I remember 2011/12 well, but forgot about the late start to 2014/15. I think that was the year we gave up with skiing and went off to Conflans for a day.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

That's terrific, @boredsurfin - I find myself unable to remember what happened what year! They all kind of merge into one, but my overall conclusion is that it's pointless worrying about snow fall in November. Not that that stops me reading the weather thread and looking at webcams......

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Origen, Indeed it all blends in over the years. I know one year it snowed in November but by Christmas we were only skiing on man made ribbons of snow. Must look out the photo's to establish what year it was - that's my job for today sorted Very Happy
Found it! Photos show the ribbons on Boxing Day 2015 and then huge snowfall started on New Years eve and the season was saved

Excellent first skiing day of the season for us, the whole area was nicely busy, but still fresh powder to be found on the edges of quite a few pistes. Lots of locals coming up for their first family ski of the season - most headed for restaurants at 12:30 on the dot snowHead
Only the main piste down to Montalbert open which has relied heavily on its snowmakers. The little pistes through the trees were mostly closed, the fairy tale Lupins with the wooden carvings was open but with very thin cover. I suspect it will close until after next weekends snowfall.
Chatting to our local Tourism Director in the summer he assured me that at least two EV charging points were being installed, well, they have been, BUT EdF haven't connected them and won't give a date when they will!
In a way nice to know that Nationalised industries haven't changed since the 1960's.
Really looking forward to seeing SW Trains back home being re-nationalised! Laughing
Tomorrow we are off down to the valley (a 10 minute trip) to do some shopping, so will charge up the car whilst in E Leclerc, who have a bank of Tesla chargers open to all.

Heavy rain all day, green slopes showing through, nothing so sad as rain in a ski resort.
BUT heavy snow and wind since 16:00 GMT now all lovely and white again and due to continue snowing through the night and tomorrow.
Must be good news as they have put all the Gondolas in their garage tonight. (Only done when wind and or snow is going to be 'bad' )

 snowHeads are a friendly bunch.

At least 18 inches of fresh snow in the last 24 hours and tonight all the snowmakers are blasting away!
What do they know that we don’t? Eh oh!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Trying to make a mix of natural and technical snow that will last (a lot) longer than just natural snow when compacted on-piste by the bullies.

Such an ideal snow mix should be the perfect base that lasts until the end of the season in April.
