Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@Idris, were you in the Val Veny cable car earlier today with a group? Saw far too many French skiers clogging up the pistes, and a few ESF Chamonix Valley instructors.
Youla was worth the wait. Plenty of fresh still to be found.

@geoffknight, town was busy and so was the hill. Despite the numbers never really queued anywhere apart from Youla cable car. Firm conditions under fresh on piste, variable snow now OP.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Sorry no, nearest I got was on the piste that traverses back to it form the top of Zerotta, where it crosses the red piste. Ducked into the trees for fresh.... Didn't need to ski Youla, just played in the trees, skied untracked most of the day.

I’m here until Saturday and will try and post daily updates. Beautiful blue skies all day today, I’ve not skied here outside of half term before and really enjoyed the quiet pistes, low volume of people and low temps provided good conditions all day long, I’m hoping it stays the same all week.

@geoffknight, what's it like for a nervous intermediate (daughter will need blues for a while, coaxed onto reds hopefully). Piste map looks more red than blue?

@davidmosley, IMV they're "Italian" reds, more purple than red. And generally immaculately groomed.

We have a very nervous sis-in-law who demanded only blues. Mrs U and I assured her that a day trip to Courm'r was just the ticket as "almost all the runs were blue".

Ooops. I checked the piste map the morning before and realised my mistake. All the mattresses on snow cannons are blue. And I rarely notice piste markers or their colours. Embarassed Embarassed

Anyway she was totally fine and had a nice day.

@davidmosley, I’d say your assessment is correct, Pra Neyron is lovely though, tree lined most of the ways with a couple of alternative options to take, and a great mountain hut Chez Olier part way down, most of the reds that go back into Plan Checruit are only just reds tbh, if you haven’t booked yet, I’d recommend La Thuil if she is very nervous the main plateau at the top of the gondola is made up of loads of blues some very gentle, other more testing, with some easy reds to move on to.

I’ve been in La Thuile today with similar snow conditions as the past two days and once again not a cloud in sight, lovely conditions to ski in.

Weather app says it’s going to cloud over tonight but no new snow in the forecast.
