Hi All
Will be driving above route on 25/1/25 AM.
Is it best to go via Lake Annecy or follow the autoroute the long way round? Always gone via the lake to 3V as the Google maps suggested time saving vs mileage doesn't seem enough reward for risking the extra distance?
Also, need a beer and sausage stock up stop on the way. What are your supermarche suggestions taking into account VFM/ least diversion req'd/ minimum time lost etc?
Many thanks, ST

I always stop at the LeClerc at Aime. Right next to the road you're on to Bourg St M. Have a look on Google Maps. I do a fuel fill-up there at the same time.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Annecy down to Chambery then follow the road to Albertville & Bourg.
Supermarkets....several en route. Intermarche in Bourg, Leclerc in Aime. Both on the main road. There's others as well in Albertville etc but those two both work and aren't a diversion from the route.

I'd always go along the lake, though generally I'd take the eastern bank, which is quieter and gives you better views of the lake. That's not important though.
There are quite a few supermarkets along the way. Massive one in Albertville in the "Centre Commercial" just a very short diversion - along the N90 towards Chambery etc (i.e. the way you'd be coming if you stuck to the Autoroute).
I'd not imagine you'd be going to Bourg St Maurice?

Hypermarket sized Carrefour just off the Autoroute on the northern outskirts of Annecy.

Super U , Bourg St Maurice one the greatest supermarkets in the world is at the bottom of the hill before you climb to Les Arcs . It has its own fan club amongst the Snowheads . Just hold onto your trolley .

Super U Bourg St Maurice
Never a quick stop though as lots of temptations, unless you do a click and collect.
Also has the best supermarket restaurant I’ve come across and often you’ll find the local constabulary enjoying lunch with wine in there.

Thanks, guys.
Super U in Bourg makes sense I guess as I can get the majority of the journey done early before traffic builds up? Land at GVA at 0845 so should work well.
I'll try autoroute all the way as never done that before. Been both sides of the lake and it is stunning scenery but time is of the essence and will be hoping for an afternoon ski, all being well!

In addition to super u there is also a Lidl in Bourg, just before you drive up the mountain to Arc

We usually take the motorway to get to 3V/Paradiski/Tignes from GVA, as I don't fancy the traffic, roundabouts and radars (not that I drive fast).
This means we shop South of Albertville, before reaching the Ugine road. It makes for a nice stop before getting on the busier part of the N90.
However the lake road is way more scenic, and if not pressed by time we sometime wander that way - in addition... it's free. There's a big Leclerc in Aime that comes handy. With a Decathlon for last minute gear, too.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

In my experience it’s rare that there’s much time difference between the autoroute via Chambery or the drive along the (West side) of the lake. The autoroute is 5-10 minutes quicker, but longer and with more toll fees. I usually drive along the lake as I like the scenery and the time penalty is not significant.
The SuperU in Bourg is my usual grocery stop, although if you want to see what offers are in Lidl there’s larger one than the quite small one in Bourg situated between Annecy and Sevrier on the lake route.

This. It's just the sort of journey you want, really, and if you're feeling a bit tired from travel and just want a fairly mindless and effortless bash along the motorway, that might tick more boxes.

Just nipped in today as the weather is terrible. While queueing for my noisette st jacques (the shop assistant was pin boning some salmon) I counted 20 different fish types for sale and a lot of different seafood such as bulot you don’t see in England anymore.
