Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi, we are off to Val d'Isère and Tignes this week and I would like to have a couple of pairs waxed and tuned. I normally do them myself but I am currently separated from my kit due to a house move.
Does anyone have a recommendation of a shop that will hot wax/tune please? I would rather avoid an Intersport etc that does it in a all-in-one machine and pay for an experienced ski tech.
Thanks in advance!

Snowberry. You can drop them at either shop but the workshop is at the Slopeside shop at Rond Point.
Friends last year took skis that had been badly tuned in the UK to Skimuim in La Daille and were very happy with the overnight service.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@mrdarcy22
, that's a tricky question. All the shops will use a machine, but some take more care than others (I agree re. Intersports etc). Tends to change year to year. Killy used to be very good but were rubbish last year. Boraso have a good reputation, some speak highly of Jean Sports. Mountain Pro are my go to for base work (I do my regular work myself), and you can actually speak to the person who does the service.
@muppet
, Snowberry still use a machine. Unless you personally know the techs all services will be the same. That's not to say it's necessarily bad, it's just no different to anyone else (fyi, I know several locals who avoid them due to the volume of skis they service every day. I don't use them for same reason). I’ve also heard good things about Skimium in LD.
