Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Yes it’s a good one. It is a repeat though.

Like it every time it’s repeated.

C4 last Sunday ran a similar but new doc on the Gstaad Palace Hotel.

The benefits of iPlayer - watched from the start. Amazing hotel and the warmth of the family running it really comes across. Maybe once we're empty nesters we'll make it out there! Seeing the magnificent Dolomites makes me more anxious for the BB.

Looked to be fairly late season from the snow coverage?

Yep -- looked a bit 'warm'

Filmed at the end of the season. I think they were busing them to the limited slopes of Kronplatz (985m to 2275m altitude)? A far cry from the Sella Ronda.

We stayed there a few years ago and it was one of the best places we have ever stayed. The service was amazing and the food superb. It’s actually only about 2 mins in the mini bus to the gondola. The slopes run close to the hotel but there is no way through. It’s a great trip from Verona on the train . You get off at Franzenfeste and catch the regional Pustertal railway all the way through Brunico to Olang/Valdaora( hotel collect you at station).unfortunately this line is being renovated and closed until December 25 so wouldn’t return until it’s back up and running. There are very many great hotels in the small villages surrounding Kronplatz. Including a 4*s and a 5* on the home slope at Olang.
The lift pass covers the train so you can go along to drei Zinnen as well and jump off the train and straight on to the gondola.

Is it a good summer destination too?

Yes . We also had a summer holiday in Riva de Tures which is the other side of Brunico and did a lot of walking in the mountains . Also forgot that you have Klausberg and Speikboden ski areas close to Brunico as well . Cable cars operate in summer as well.

Hubertus... Ah, I was lost with google maps there, but Open Street Map shows the ski lifts and that helps work it out:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/214840033#map=14/46.75210/11.99947

So there's a few lifts there... enough for 7 days?
If I went I'd probably have a rental car, so I could always drive somewhere else around there - any suggestions for that?

Kronplatz is great...their "fab five" black groomers are....fab, and long, especially the front siders, which are top-to-bottom. More vert than anywhere else in Dolomiti Superski except Marmolada (and who wants to ride three trams?). And there are two interesting museums at the summit (Lumen and Messner Mtn Museum, designed by Zaha Hadid), open year-round.

So, tonight's episode sees Rob and Monica in a luxury hotel in Lapland. I've not watched it all (cba) but it seems to be a rinse and repeat of the Hubertus episode.

Loved this Lapland prog, almost magical.

We had a more modest (non-skiing) trip to Finnish Lapland in Dec 21 … memories will be with us forever.
