Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Manchester - Turin April flights cancelled

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Noticed (not notified!) this morning that the easyJet flights, part of a Crystal Ski package holiday, have been cancelled. Manchester to Turin, in April. Looks like EasyJet are ending that route earlier than planned.

Appears to be news to Crystal ski, so worth checking if could impact you too.

Maybe they priced themselves out on those flights. They were outrageous when I booked, so flying to Milan instead. Would prefer to support the local reds as been fleeced by the orange brigade once, but not at triple the price.

Two years ago my son came out to Les Arcs in April and there were no easyjet flights (or any other airline) direct to Geneva. He found a KLM flight via Amsterdam that worked even though he had to sprint through the airport. @what...snow, are the "orange brigade" the Dutch by the way?

I assumed the "orange brigade" were EasyJet in this instance, @johnE, and "local reds" possibly Jet2... but I await @7ncj to be proven wrong!

@jebroni3_16, Spot on. Both generally preferred to the blue and yellow fleecers! Still, all choices that don’t involve a trip to west London.

EasyJet changed their cabin bag T&Cs while I was in France in 2022 so flying back cost an extra €50-60 which put them right in my bad books but are generally tolerable. I did experience a massive delay coming back from Venice on EasyJet and I put in a compensation request, mainly using information from Martin Lewis’s website. They rejected it out of hand, of course, but when I got round to complaining to the ombudsman, their legal defence was so wee wee poor, it actually filled in all the missing information that I hadn’t found, proved my case and the ombudsman found completely in my favour. Think I got back more than the cost of all the flights Very Happy

I’ve never actually felt ripped off by Ryanair but an experience in Faro involving 2 toddlers and them begrudgingly opening 2 check in desks for a full flight about 100 minutes before departure, then getting full bore officious and demanding to measure every single piece of cabin baggage before it got on the plane, makes them start every search for a flight as the last resort. Not to say that I haven’t used them since, but they have to offer significantly cheaper and/or more convenient flight times to get considered.

Interesting -- I'm wondering how Crystal will handle the cancellation ???

@albob, me too. I’ve been promised a call back by Tuesday. Lots of their holidays impacted. I got a great deal too, so fearing they’ll cancel the whole holiday. Tui have flights 12 hours earlier (which we can’t make). Hoping they’ll transfer us to TUi flights from Bristol, as we’re Devon based, but they were a very significant premium when we booked.

@7ncj, This happened to us last season with Inghams. I'm assuming Crystal may have a similar policy which says a change of flight +/- 12 hours is a minor change that they can make without you being able to do anything.

Hope it all works out.

@TomBH, eek. That’d be a deposit losing scenario if it played out like that, we can’t make the flights that are 11hr 50 earlier that day.

@7ncj, you live in Devon but are flying from Manchester? Puzzled

@sugarmoma666, yes, ironically due to better flight times and a LOT cheaper for the two of us. It’s same journey time driving to Manchester as Gatwick.

@7ncj, If your dates are 6th of April - they have availability from Bristol (08.05 to Turin)

@albob, thanks. That’s the one I’m hoping to switch to. We can just make that (only downside is 6 rather than 7 days skiing and loss of a hotel booking near Manchester) whereas we can’t make a 0600 flight due to another commitment.

One reason, when booking with Crystal, I avoid the EasyJet flights, preferring to go with the TUI ones, is the fear of EasyJet cancelling/moving the flights..!

All sorted (bit more painful than it should have been due to system glitches their end) - but happy with end result. Flights moved to TUI ones from Bristol at nil extra cost. They've even asked for a copy of the booking for the Manchester hotel I'd made for the return journey and will consider crediting that cost against the booking too.

We don't get much choice down this way, if there isn't a Bristol flight (or it's expensive) then BHX, LGW and LHR are all on the table for much the same kind of driving time. MAN is a little further but still an option if the price is right.

Yes, the Ryanair add ons can be expensive (eg ski bag £90...) but if you travel with small hand luggage only (perfectly adequate for a few days away) and are flexible on dates, there are often ridiculous bargains.

In the past 12 months or so, Mrs MA and I have had 30-odd and forty-odd quid return flights and lovely short breaks in Gran Canaria, Majorca, The Algarve and (as recently as last week) a brilliant ski trip via Milan Bergamo Very Happy On the add ons front, it was far cheaper to hire skis and boots than pay to check them in.
