Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi all
I am aware of the Brenner Pass part road closures and restrictions from January 2025 as per the articles below
https://trans.info/en/brenner-bans-costs-400902
https://www.krone.at/3545166
I will be travelling that direction in the middle of January and returning a couple of weeks later (both days will be a Friday) , so was hoping I can get some local information or details of anyone travelling that route from January onwards to give me an idea of the restrictions and holds up that will be expected.
I have tried to look for further information, but there seems to be very restricted news.

@Simon94
, this has been discussed here before. There is a range of opinions as to how much additional delay this will cause as there have been lane closures on this section for some considerable time. My view is that this is a much bigger issue for trucks than cars (there is already a "slot" system for trucks in place which causes queues of trucks waiting to get into Tirol just before Kufstein). I would have thought the best thing is to keep an eye on Google maps with the traffic layer turned on from Tuesday 7th onwards (days before that are all effectively holidays). The biggest concern seems to be from businesses based south of the Brenner wanting to send goods north as there are not many realistic alternatives for truck traffic. If you are driving down and the prognosis is not good look at going via Arlberg & Reschen Pass instead.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I don't know if it will help, but there are webcams all the way through:
https://www.asfinag.at/verkehr-sicherheit/webcams/?language=en
That same site (Austrian motorway/traffic management services) also contains info about roadworks, traffic jams etc.
