 Poster: A snowHead

Anyone got a recommended company for tomorrow? EasyJet kindly cancelled my outward flight from Liverpool, so going from Manchester and back into Liverpool.
That’s not changeable, looked at buses and trains which is doable but will take 2 hours, whereas it should be around a 45 min drive.
Uber is quoting a reasonable price but can’t see a way to tell them I need a car with space to take skis!!
So ideally someone with a fold down seat/estate car!

Surely the “duty of care” rules mean they need to pay for it.
Also check out if EU261 rules (in UK law) cover this for compensation.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@GlasgowCyclops, it was changed in plenty of time (June) to avoid all things like that and full recompense was offered if I didn’t want to go ahead.

How much extra is an Uber XL? They're normally minibuses so should have plenty of room.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Did you look at Flixbus? They say Liverpool to Manchester airport is 45 min journey time.

@sno trax, yes they weren’t showing any service for today

Trainline shows trains roughly every half hour, taking 90+minutes and costing £22 per passenger. If all else fails it is always a good backup.

@johnE, yes that is an option, but then there is a bus to Lime street/taxi to add on so total cost is close to the overall taxi cost.

@kitenski, No need to go to Lime street. There is a bus included in the rail ticket to Liverpool South Parkway from where you catch the train. The shuttle busses run every 10 minutes or so. I used it last Sunday. It is £22 from the airport to the airport.

@johnE, ok cheers, is it all pretty easy then? 2 of us, one big bag, one set of skis, 2 sets of boot bags. The Northern train rail app shows a train change but I don't think that's the case is it??

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

@kitenski, You have to change at Manchester Oxford Road.

The trainline shows 2 changes. The first from the bus to the train and the second in Machester at Oxford road.

In case anyone else ever searches !
Ended up with a local taxi company picked us up at the free drop off in Liverpool airport . Taking us to T1 Manchester for £65 (inc the manchester £5 fee) in estate car so skis fitted fine! Rang them 30 mins beforehand and turned up on time.

Vs £42 (and bus fare) for about 2 hour 30min on public transport!
